When you think about it....Gays don't need heteros to propagate gay stereotypes; they're doing just fine by themselves.

I'm a gay man. ( I bet you would have never guessed!) ....One of my best friends is also a gay man. Just to kill some misconceptions by many well-meaning persons, I offer a portrait of my friend and myself.

    We both:

    * Played football in high school, and didn't even partake in any homoerotic rituals in the locker room.
    * Have terrible fashion sense.
    * Hate "Sex and The City" "Will and Grace," and "Dawson's Creek."
    * Enjoy watching James Bond movies.
    * Never miss the Super Bowl.
    * Hate shopping for clothes, but love shopping for gadgets from the Sharper Image catalog.
    * Go to sports bars as well as gay bars.
    * Do not have a lisp, limp wrists, or a swagger in our step.
    * Sometimes do not shave for days on end.
    * Have had had a boyfriend for two years straight (no pun intended).
    * Have had a messy apartment.
    * Don't obsess about sex.
    * Defy stereotypes, but not on purpose.

And next time you see two gay men holding hands, remember: they don't just have sex...they also.....make love. icon_wink.gif

I think an important question is in here.

Why do you care if someone sees you for only a stereo type? why try and list a bunch of things that some people think are a stereotype for homosexuals?

I didn't play much sport in school, although with my mates outside of school I certain did.
I love sex and the city and will and grace, dawsons creek never interested me
I don't watch the super bowl (but I'm aussie) Plus, it's a bit of a pussies game really, I mean, all that kit to keep them say hahahaha riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
I like clothes shopping when I can find something that fits
I don't go to sports bars, there boring filled with men who are.. well I wont go on
I don't shave, but I hate shaving! I use clippers
I had a boyfriend for 7, whats ya point?
I don't have a messy place, but it can get messy (see previous post)
I don't obsess about sex but I sure as hell got a sex drive!

Don't try to defy anything someone tries to stick on you, be your self period!!!

    At Malefeet:
Well, all you guys are doing is replacing one set of stereotypes with another. That of gay guys who are not THAT gay. Yawn

I want gay guys that are so comfortable with themselves
that they can change the filters of a vacuum-cleaner one minute and recommend a deodorant other than AXE the next.

That roll on the floor quoting Karen Walker and roll in the surf making love to me

that don't care whether their outfit is GAP or Armani Exchange, but know that they look hot in it.

that clutch their pearls when it's funny and give me a hug when I need it

That watch the Super-bowl and the Oscars.... and the Fashion-Policeicon_lol.gif

    james bond is damn gay!

Guinea pig series is something which is not gay.

P.S. all the things you listed, make you an indivisual, they have nothing to do with your being gay or straight.

Oh I love making things about me. I'll play this ad-libs game. =) I'll reinterpret the first post.

    I:

    * Hate people in general

    * Have high fashion sense, get drunk, and walk in the middle of the street shouting things to alley cats while filming it, and then I pee with the cats and film that too. Strange how urine streams have a mind of their own and you can never predict how they will bifurcate. But when you pee on walls you kinda know that gravity will skew the results...science. So couture.

    * Love "Sex and The City" but only because I imagine I could do a better job by making a mockumentary version of it, and I imagine I'm every one of those women getting dick...mmmmmm dick

    * Enjoy watching bad movies.

    * Have no idea what the Super Bowl is. Probably something for angry men to excite the "war" centers in their brain so that they don't actually go outside and do something physically destructive. Women are the better sex really. Sometimes. Actually no, they're not. I forgot about the vagina part.

    * Hate going shopping, because I hate people in general (see first part) but love shopping for video editing equipment. But I have to be in and out quick otherwise I'll make a scene.

    * Don't go to bars unless I'm so smashed I have no idea I'm at bars. I usually cry too especially when I see an ex and profess my love to him (but I don't recall it until he texts me wanting to get back the next day and I'm like '.....whaaaaa?)

    * Do not have a lisp, limp wrists, or a swagger in our step, until I wear high heels and we become the gayest people of all time in one person

    * Never shave for days on end. Even when I'm in high heels. High fashion is so demanding. I'm counter-couture and couture. Think about it. Think about tits.

    * My friend has a boyfriend for three years straight (no pun intended), but I'm a total desperate whore who goes on Grindr right before I fall asleep every night in a desperate last-minute attempt to try to have sex while pawning it off that I'm just looking for friends. It's because I think about dick all the time. I'm thinking about a dick right now. I think I may even have a dick.

    * Have had a messy apartment because when I go out to the clubs I freak out because nothing matches and in the end my entire closet is on the floor and my throat hurts (omg was I yelling again I don't remember I'm so shitfaced and at a club now but I don't even know I'm at a club because I'm too shitfaced...you're following the logic of these bullets right? Because I'm putting them all together now).

    * Don't obsess about sex, except right now, in the future, and in the past, and at any given point in time that isn't covered by the adjectives I've used that in theory cover every point in time.

    * Don't care what stereotypes I follow. Don't care to follow all or break all.

Plain in simple there is no such thing as upholding a stereotype everybody is different. You are going to find people in a certain category that may do things that are considered appropiate for those ppl to do but also your going to find ppl that dont do those things.

For example, black people that use proper english, asians that can drive, women that can do math, and gays that athletic activities dont just fall under dance. (No offense to blacks, asians, women, and gays)

Just be yourself and when you see a man swtiching, talking with a lispm wearing women's clothing dont think they are upholding any stereotype think they are just being themselves, and be yourself, and try not to judge because your both in the same boat of discriminating gayness.

But stereotypes happen because too many people are NOT different. I don't see diversity when I walk into a gay bar. I see a bunch of flaming queens.

A gay bar is only a handful of gay people. You cant give one attribute to a group of people because when one person in that group doesnt have it not all people of that group are like that. So you cant say "Gay ppl are..." because all are different.

Yes a gay bar is only a handful. However my point still stands. Stereotypes happen because too many people are NOT different. There is diversity, but it's certainly far from equally distributed.

    O.K., let's play your game. . .

Not an athlete in H.S., I was editor of the school paper. But I played football for YMCA, constantly played basketball and baseball with friends after school, etc. and I'm actually pretty decent at sports

My fashion sense isn't good, but I try to find the right advice and make sure I look good

Have never seen "Sex and the City," "Will and Grace," and "Dawson's Creek" (though I like James van der Beek).

I've never watched the Super Bowl, not once. It's boring

007 is good, though I never could stand Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig is way better

Don't really like shopping for clothes. I like looking around for Sharper Image type stuff, but you wouldn't catch me dead in Home Depot or Lowe's or any kind of hardware store

Don't go to bars, period. Never have

Don't have lisp, limp wrists, swagger, etc, but I don't make fun of anyone who does

Sometimes I'll skip shaving for a day, but that's about it

    House can be messy sometimes

Don't know where that places me on the gay stereotype continuum, but wherever it is, that's OK with me

Wow, I didn't mind you before, but now this post makes you come off as an elitist prick.

I hate gays like you. You should spend your time convincing people there isn't a stereotype rather than making yourself the exception.

    Guess what...

    I played Division I baseball
    I was varsity Tennis
    I had sex with women
I know how to service a car
I know how to fix leaks
I enjoy watching golf and sports.

    But guess what else...
    I love clothes
I love Sex and the City and Will and Grace they broke down sexual barriers in American television.
    I love Sex

    and well.

    Shoes, bags, and boys.

We all have a little queen in us, embrace it, stop trying to defy it.

Can I be apart of your shitty club now?
