Doll Husbands

I just saw a TV ad for a documentary on "unusual" romantic relationships. In addition to showing gay men and lesbians together, there was a section on something called "doll husbands".

Apparently, there are straight men that form romantic attachments to lifesize female dolls. They comb their hair, snuggle on the couch, and claim that their "relationship" is satisfying and good.

Now, part of me wonders if this is a hoax. Like the Yale students that would write "Dear Abby" outrageous letters, hoping she could be fooled into replying in her column. (She was usually too smart for them.)

I have to say that if this is for real, I resent it being showed in the same context as gay relationships.

However, maybe this is similar to how straight people feel about gay relationships.

    Creep me out!
