I'm traveling to Germany with my family in May and may spend a day or two in Frankfurt before they arrive. Any suggestions? What's the gay scene like there? Is there a gay area with bookstores, coffee houses, etc.?

I liked Frankfurt. Its a clean, modern city. I don't speak German, so was a little lost. Found a nice gay bar in the triangle and spend the evening. Guys there were humpy and butch.

I had a little difficulty understanding how to pay for my drinks. The bartender kept giving me little pieces of paper. The place was so dark that I couldn't see that they were receipts that I had to bring to a cashier. Of course, I was assuming that the bartender was keeping my tab; not so. Anyway, fortunately I did have them all stuffed in my pocket, and figured out how to pay.

Took the train to Heidelberg - a beautiful medieval town, if you have the time. Lady running the public restroom turned out to be from the next town over from me here in Pennsylvania.

DC, yes I did Google, but the site was bare-bones and couldn't tell how recent some of the listings were. Besides, sometimes there are things to see that are off the beaten path.

If this is your first visit to Frankfurt, you might not want to limit your adventures to exclusive gay things. Just my opinion. Then again, I wasn't "out" when I was in DEUTSCHLAND

Thanks, Pinny. I might be in Frankfurt for just a day before my family arrives, and though I'm out, I'm not sure gay destinations will be their interest. I definitely would like to know if there are other "must see" things I should see in Frankfurt. They just opened an Apple store their, for instance... haha.
