Hey guys, I'm heading by myself to Miami South Beach for 3 weeks in April.

Point of trip is mainly to get away and relax, see a few fun things there and meet some new people hopefully.

Do many of you guys go on hols by yourselves? How do you find meeting people (not just to jump in the sack with)?

Normally I have only travelled for work and is my first break in many years by myself. I'm easy enough to simply see what happens, however any tips would be great on my first trip to the States icon_smile.gif

hols? do u mean hostels? eh i live in South Beach and if u are looking for gay clubs/bars ehm well theres "The Palace", "Twist" "Score" and if u go to the beach on 12st well thats mostly all gay. I dont go to any of these places cause everyone wants sex right away or the guys are kinda old, but i dont know what else to tell you. There are a lot of hot guys down here mostly all tourists. You'll probably like it.

Hols means holidays my dear KGB. What we Americans typically call vacations.

    You'll have a great time
South Beach is the perfect Place to relax or play or do anything you dam well want icon_cool.gif

There's the Gay Beach on 12th to wile away the hours .... witha view

    There are clubs galore
Restaurants ... bars .... coffee houses

Great gyms ... none exclusively gay but we represent icon_wink.gif

or you can just sit and people watch in places like Lincoln rd

but if you can't have a good time here then you can't anywhere

I went to South Beach two years ago by myself for the very same reason, relax and chill. I tried things like Snorkeling and Scuba Diving, both are awesome. Also since you are there for three weeks, do visit Key West, it is simply beautiful. The whole drive, then the Island and people. You can go for a sail trip watching Sunset while sailing in the Ocean.
The best way to meet people for anything other than jumping in the sack would be to get yourself into some activities that you enjoy and thus will meet like minded ones. I met some wonderful people when scuba diving and thus had an amazing time.

I've done it. In fact, I've done it in South Beach. If it's your first trip to the US, be aware that it is one of the most unrepresentative American cities there is. Majority Spanish speaking. Still a fantastic place. Great beaches. I recommend Hotwire to find a place to stay. Good prices in my experience.

If I would have a me time vacation then I would choose somewhere more reserve...like a island or something along those lines....thats just my opinon though. You go and enjoy your vacation : )

South Beach isn't the most relaxing place on earth. Even on the beach, there's too much eye candy walking and swimming around to relax.

Damn Imma gonna miss you I will be there a few weeks earlier. No, he's going to miss the most of spring break as that bulk of that is in March. The rates drop day after Easter though as I recall seeing. Where are u going to stay?

    Ha ha, thanks guys.

I've rented a unit for the three weeks so that is fine.

But as long as it is a pretty easy place to be, fun but not so crazy I will be on edge I will be happy.

I know it isn't the real USA, but I jsut couldn't go past that beach, it looks incredible compared to Bondi here in Syd.

Thanks for the tips bout activities as well, I will have to do a little research and find some. There's a running club nearby as well whic will be great.

And I will spend a few days away in New Orleans as well if I can.

I know SoBe is a little crazy, but I guess I am thinking the mix of beach, bars, adventure travel and being a short flight to some great places it should be a fun time- good to hear it is a real sociable place though.

I'm sending you my direct email, which goes to my iPhone, perhaps we can get together again if you come up to Wilton Manors.

I live in the heart of South Beach and wouldn't live anywhere else inside the U.S. You're going to love it! If you need anything while you're here, just let me know. I also know the area well for insider tips. I've travelled to 47 countries alone so I know a little about that too. icon_smile.gif

Well keep some time open for a couple of your own countrymen! We're gonna have to look you up next time we're down there, can always use some insider tips. I've been going to South Beach for 37 years, my partner over 40, but never too late to teach 2 (very) old dogs some new tricks about the place. Especially since things have a habit of changing down there. I tried to interest southbeach1500 in having martinis with us at the Hotel Victor's second floor patio bar but no go; maybe we'll have better luck with you. icon_biggrin.gif

Done! And the feeling is mutual, a real treat meeting you. I already told C to expect you. Will you be alone this time? Don't expect to see my Vespa again, however. Seizures have kept me off it lately, though I still have it.

And for all of you who may be coming down to South Florida and the Keys, don't forget that Mark's List is a great online resource for all things gay: nightspots, resorts, events, stores, etc. And Mark (who's a real guy) is now publishing the Mark's List paper magazine, free at many gay spots. Along with the Hotspots magazine and a few other free gay pubs, though not as comprehensive as Mark's.

SteamyWeenie saidwell, relaxing during that time might be a little bit of something u wont be able to do lol.. .... have fun! icon_wink.gif

Hey mate, thanks so much for the mass of info- has definitely been incredibly helpful and I will have to read again on the weekend when I've more time to think about it.

I tend to be able to relax absolutely anywhere as long as I've not got work running through my brain so it should all be sweet once I arrive!

Key West will be fun, I might book in 30 years ahead my retirement... icon_smile.gif
