I can't find the previous posting, but there was a YouTube Video of Palin at the Tea Party Convention - and there was some question as to whether or not she had a "cheat sheet" written on her hand...

    Here's the photographic proof:

    http://www.towleroad.com/2010/02/watch-palin-caught-using-hand-as-cheat-sheet-at-tea-party-confab.html

    What a loser.

I give a lot of public presentations and although I don't use aids, I don't think one can condemn someone for using them.

It's more worthwhile to debate what she says, not how she says it.

The best extrapolation one could pull out of this is that Sarah Palin is simply an unrefined politician... amounting to a talking-points-relaying-demagogue.

She continually bashes Obama for reading from a teleprompter. I don't deny her the right to have notes, but practice what you preach!

Hmmm, which is better to have talking points or notes written on your habd or to have to carry a teleprompter wherever one goes. By calling Palin stupid you are not critically thinking and analyzing the situation. For years people have note cards they take with them to interviews. I am not seeing anyone calling "Hopey Changey aka Obama" stupid for having a teleprompter wherever he goes, but y'alls utter intolerance and hatred for Palin makes it ok for you to demean her. One is not stupid or unprepared if they have notes on their hands, it just means they have a lot to talk about... and who cares if she did. Just don't look at one person one way but another gets a pass because he is the person you voted for. Be smart and stop the hate.

It's kind of absurd to criticize someone for something like cue cards, teleprompters, or even notes on their hand. Hey, whatever works for them to help them get up in front of an audience and get their point across, more power to them. I've never really understood the criticism of Obama using a teleprompter -- it's done ALL the time by all kinds of public speakers. As for Palin jotting notes down on her hand...I think it's funny. Whatever works. Sort of fits her down-to-earth folksy style anyway.

Not that it makes any difference, she already seemed like a sorority house fake to me, but it is kind of funny. I mean really .. could she not remember that little bit scrawled on her hand ..energy?? Coming from a state that lives off of energy resource state subsidies?

    Sarah Palin quote:
This is about the people! This is about the people, and it's bigger than any king or queen of a Tea Party. And it's a lot bigger than any charismatic guy with a teleprompter.

Look, I don't blame her for having a cheat sheet. We've seen what happens when she isn't prepared...

She said it in that very same speech! She referred to Obama as "just a guy with a teleprompter." Just google "Palin Obama teleprompter" and you'll get like 2.5 million results. icon_smile.gif

What policy ideas does she advocate that make her a forward thinker and political heavyweight?

Lax, maybe you're right. "Loser" is a strong term. Using a modern piece of technology vs. what I used to pass a test in 7th grade isn't something I should pick on, you're right.

Let's look at what she wrote on her hand..."Energy," "Tax," and "Lift American Spirits." Yep, that's a whole lot to talk about.

Did you see the way Obama handed the Republicans their asses without any cue cards, teleprompter or cheat sheet? icon_rolleyes.gif

I read elsewhere about this -- the point is that this was not part of the "speech" before the group -- it was supposedly during a question-and-answer session after her presentation (where she may have used cue cards, no problem)....but if the "questions from the audience" were supposedly impromptu, then why have notes scribbled on your palm for that? How would she know which questions would come up if they were not "rigged" beforehand?

Not to mention, 3 brief points shouldn't have been too hard for most of us to keep in mind, especially if we knew the question beforehand...right?

Some claimed the photos were "photoshopped" - however, I'm not aware of the AP distributing photoshopped pictures in its news items. Are you? Another more biased site perhaps -- towleroad, huffingtonpost, etc. might.

It seems to me that you may not have made many public speech. Those are keys words use to remind her to address because in a public speech, one gets drag in all direction. If you do not put key words to ground your points, then you make no point and that would be a trasvesty. Which do you prefer, a speech with no point or one with specific points of view. Let's not judge until you have had experiences in doing those. Even if you have, it does not make her a loser to have note written on her hand(s). Can we get back to more important issues like Energy, Tax and others?

Apparently, you didn't actually watch Palin's speech or the Q&A that followed, but what happened is she walked immediately from the podium over to a seating area where the host or whomever was seated and she sat down for the Q&A. I would assume that the things jotted on her hand were for the speech, not the Q&A, but who knows.

One of my degrees is in Speech, another in TV & Radio Broadcasting. So I've taken courses in public speaking, and spoken frequently before live audiences & broadcast, not to mention addressing large groups of soldiers during my military career. I also do reading parts onstage for a local choral group.

I often use podium notes, or hand-held index cards, and I don't think my audience has a problem with that. I would have no problem if Palin had used index cards, or a clipboard. But writing on her palm, if true? That's high-school cribbing stuff, laughably deceitful and incredibly unprofessional.

As for teleprompters, they're used for prepared speeches by all modern US Presidents, and most other international leaders. In a world where a single misstated word from a long speech can cause global concern, Presidents need to get it perfect. Except the last Bush, who couldn't get it right even WITH a teleprompter.

But I can't remember Obama using a teleprompter to answer press questions, or at town meetings. Just more hypocritical Republican slander against him.

This comes off as a mediocre attempt to find yet another reason to hate and insult Palin without articulating a substantive argument. Besides, reading a speech word for word off a teleprompter and using a few notes are not the same.

I agree. The petty attempts at tearing Sarah Palin down are bordering on the pathetic. Meanwhile, she just keeps plowing forward in her own unique style drawing huge crowds and taking it in stride. At the very least, watching this woman, and the reaction so many have towards her, is something I find fascinating...and, before some of you throw tomatoes, I'm not in any way shape or form saying I think she should be "President". I'm just saying that her evolution -- where she has come from, and where she is apparently headed -- will be interesting and fascinating to watch.

Well, up here we view her in the same light and importance as Paris Hilton.

We watched her tell a fevered crowd on TV that any country with socialized healthcare is not a free country. We switched channels.
