I just got a call from my good friend in Minneapolis and found out I'm going to Puerto Rico for a week at the end of March! Only problem is NONE of the people I'm going with have ever been there before. Anybody have any advice on things we need to plan to do/things we shouldn't miss/tips on the best places? Anything would be appreciated, thanks!

Try Fajardo at night for the bioluminescent bay. It is amazing.

Old San Juan is beautiful with the architecture and El Moro.

Try to get to Vieques or Culebra, which are islands by Puerto Rico with beautiful beaches.

I speak a little bit of spanish... hopefully enough to find my way around if I get lost haha. I've been googling like crazy, but I think I have to stop cuz I'm getting too excited looking at everything.

Do El Yunque, the rainforest/park...and try to hit Vieques if you can...the biobay there is unbelievable. And Vieques is still a pretty sleepy island...definitely the opposite of San Juan. San Juan is cool...the beaches in the Condado (kinda of the gay beach in front of the Atlantic Beach hotel) are nice...and you can always walk along 'em to Ocean Park (a newer area, but no central gay beach). I still love Old San Juan...all the forts around it...and there's a cemetery that was supposedly a dangerous place to visit...but it was very cool as well.

If you've got a car and want an adventure, drive out to the Camuy caverns...and stop by the Arecibo radio telescope...they only give tours certain days of the week...but its an awesome thing just to look at. Take a GPS if possible...we got very lost...and none of us spoke Spanish then...finally a police officer guided us back to the highway!!

Oh and there's a lot of hot men there too!

I liked ponce, great museum there. Also, on most roads after mid night you only need to yield to the red lights. This is to prevent car jacking,if you decide to drive late. I don't know if this is still a big problem there. Haven't been there since my dad died .

Near ponce there was this restored hacienda from the days of slavery. Also, the indegenious restored anthrological parks are nice, if your into that. Otherwise, near San Juan there are all your basic carribean haunts . Rent a car and plan out your trip have fun.
