    I honestly don't get it.

Why do these labels / singers remove youtube videos of their work? I would think you'd be grateful that other people are uploading your videos and songs, so they can get more exposure??

Yet all the time I see, "This video has been removed" blah blah blah...

    Am I missing something?

I'm always interested in seeing people dance to songs and seeing artists performances, that would have never been uploaded unless someone uploaded it, yet I see the stupid "COPYRIGHT" crap and it almost makes me NOT want to support them, but I do because their songs are amazing haha

I mean look at some of the videos we'd be missing out on if it was deleted due to copyright issues. Youtube is pract my bff and it makes me sad these labels are ruining it for me!!!

It's not the artist, it's their label.

Lets face it... any major label is going to spend millions of dollars recording, designing, promoting, manufacturing, and releasing an artist. Not to mention paying royalties and fees to their artists.

This is why the music industry is failing.

They've set it up to cost an obscene amount of money. The final nail in the coffin is advancing computer technology that allows a home user with the know-how to record their music professionally for a couple thousand and distribute it online. Couple that with sites like Cafe Press and Etsy, and you really don't have a need to be on a major (or even independent) label.

Hell, you can even set up your own tours now. All it takes is Google maps and a few phone calls to venues far enough in advance to book a show.

Anyone who didn't see this coming when the whole Napster thing went down was blind.

The Internet has removed the need for a lot of jobs. Travel Agent comes to mind.
