sory but there is no healthy quick fix. Idealy if you work out right, make sure you are eating REALISTIC portions. As in no more than 2000 calories a day and eating healthy when you do eat as in NO fast food, little or no soda (drinking soda every day is not little), and keeping portions to one serving, you should loose 2 pounds a week. But you have to work out doing lots of cardio and lift with lite weight and lots of reps. I don't know what you mean by timely fashion but I know plenty of people who stuck to diets and workout plans and are looking great after a few years. Especially people I see in the gym and coming back for summer break they look like they have been putting in the time. Its one step at a time, one day at a time. If you try something quick and unhealthy, you might end up with a bunch of extra skin hanging off and thats probably not what you want. I know a girl who became had bulemia and after she lost the weight she had to get plastic surgery to get all the skin removed and gastric bypass. It pays to do it healthy, and it can cost a whole lot to do it otherwise.

You'll need to see a professional. Find a middle-aged trainer that knows what they are doing. A younger person doesn't have enough real life experience to advise you in a qualified way.

I can't, nor can anyone else, advise a pictureless in a qualified way, on an internet site.

Different things work for different folks.

    Some folks have hormonal issues.

Some folks aren't honest about what they are actually doing.

    Some folks are impatient.

One bit of free advice: You didn't get fat and ugly overnight, and you won't reverse the process overnight. Changes have to become integrated into your lifestyle so that you both feel better, and won't digress to your old ways of doing things. Those changes will involve changing the way you view food, exercise, and how you arrange those same 24 hours of your day to effect positive change. We all have those same 24 hours.

Again, you didn't get fat and ugly overnight (I'm assuming you're ugly because you're a no-pic.) You won't fix yourself overnight either. That will require focus, discipline, ongoing effort, a new lifestyle and self-education about what works for you. You need to seek professional advice, where someone can see what you look like, take measurements, run blood tests, and quanitify where you are now.

Remember: there's no magic pill. All this comes from within. Don't coddle yourself. Pick yourself up, and get on with it.
