Shocking commentary by former President Jimmy Carter in response to the 2008 presidential election's preparatory elections:
Warning: Contains offensive and hurtful language (which I normally find stupid, yet here it worked IMO).

I Got What America Needs Right Here
Sometimes I'm a little stupid, maybe, a little slow in the head, so I'm wondering if you can help me get something straight. Maybe you can help me understand one f*cking thing right now, America, and explain to me what in the Christ is going on here. 'Cause, unless I'm missing something, this country is in the middle of a motherf*cking shitstorm, and I have no f*cking idea what you're gonna do to get out of it. I mean, are you seriously considering voting for one of these sh*tbags you got here in '08? Fat f*cking chance.

Yes, I know what The Onion is and need not be reminded. I am curious as to whether there are some here who have not yet read one of their articles or seen one of their videos.

Thanks, I was having a nice day until you brought Jimmy up. We're all lucky Jimmy lost to Ronnie in 1980. Four more years of Jimmy would have made us the Union of Soviet Socialist Amerika and the Russians would be occupying us still.

Oh Kwitcherbellyakin jprichva. Have you ever been to the DMZ in Korea? Have you ever been to the Berlin wall or the border between the DDR and the FRG?
    Carter was a disaster.
The Democrats are the best allies the Soviet Union ever had. I say this out of experience. I was in Germany under the Carter administration, of the 5 tanks in my platoon, 4 were half ass operational, the 5th was used for spare parts.
We weren't ready for the Red Army then. When Ronnie became President, we got brand new M1 Abrams and the Russians weren't ready for us.
Then there was Carter's orders to the Marines to surrender to the muslim nutbuckets in Tehran. They gave up an embassy without firing a shot in it's defence. Since Carter was a former sailor you'd think he'd know about the Code of Conduct.

Oh, this is about the level of intelligence you expect from Republicans. Jimmy Carter was admittedly a poor president. Therefore, all Democrats are commies.

Were you born this stupid, or did it take transfusions?

In December 2004, Rumsfeld came under fire after a "town-hall" meeting with U.S. troops where he responded to a soldier's comments about inferior military equipment by saying "you go to war with the Army you have, not the Army you want."

Thank you for saying that. THE ONION IS NOT REAL NEWS!!!!!!
Yeah, Jimmy Carter was a pretty bad president. If I could have voted in 1980 (I was 7 lol) I would have voted for Reagan. Now I'm not sure who is worse, W or Carter, thats a tough one.

Nothing could have persuaded me to vote for Reagan. Better an incompetent well-meaning wonk than a drooling, senile loony. Reagan is responsible for the decay of our infrastructure, our politics, and our sense of national unity. History will view him as one of the worst and most divisive presidents ever.

    I will be contrarian here.

I have met Carter several times, the first time as an Eagle Scout in the 1970's; more recently in connection with Habitat for Humanity and the UN.

Carter was not a great president. but - IMO - he wasn't a bad one.

His administration created two new cabinet-level departments: the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. He established the first national energy policy.

Carter advocated a foreign policy that held other countries to the highest moral standard possible, a standard by which, he believed, Americans would want themselves to be judged.

He signed into law a major Civil Service Reform, the first in over a hundred years.

    He had many other successes.

He inherited a DISASTER from the Republicans. The economy suffered double-digit inflation, coupled with very high interest rates, oil shortages, high unemployment and slow economic growth. Productivity growth in the United States had declined to an average annual rate of 1 percent, compared to 3.2 percent of the 1960s. There was a booming federal budget deficit which increased to 66 billion dollars (huge for those days). He inherited an economy mired in stagflation.

Carter was also the one to begin serious cutbacks and reforms to the federal gov't - not Reagan (the administration and spending boomed under Reagans Admin).

    ------------------------------------------------
"Congress refused to pass major provisions of his consumer protection bill and his labor reform package. Carter then vetoed a public works package calling it "inflationary", as it contained what he considered to be wasteful spending. Congressional leaders sensed that public support for his legislation was weak, and took advantage of it. After gutting his consumer protection bill, they transformed his tax plan into nothing more than spending for special interests, after which Carter referred to the congressional tax committees as "ravenous wolves."

Carter signed legislation greatly increasing the payroll tax for Social Security, and appointed record numbers of women, blacks, and Hispanics to government and judiciary jobs. He also initiated a comprehensive urban policy. His Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act created 103 million acres (417,000 kmĀ²) of national park land in Alaska.

Under Carter's watch, the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was passed, which phased out the Civil Aeronautics Board. He was also somewhat successful in deregulating the trucking, rail, communications, oil and finance industries." - wikipedia
    -----------------------------------------------------

Carter was not a great president, he was however a decent caretaker in an impossible position.

Frankly, the Administrations since have left me with a deep appreciation and nostalgia for the honesty and integrity of his administration.

People credit the Reagan Admin with bringing the US out of that Recession, but the truth was he wasn't in office long enough to have affected anything; it was the Carter policies that eventually led to the end of stagflation.

He wasn't a strong president, but he doesn't deserve all the propoganda and blame that the Young Republicans - most of whom weren't even born then - heap upon him.

I remember that little whiner from the Tennessee National Guard. They had fully operational M1035 HMMWVs and at the staging area in Kuwait they were required to apply the Add-On Armor kit before they convoy to Iraq. They had all the equipment they needed. Unlike us in Europe in the Carter years.
The press really got a hold of that story. The boy is a disgrace to the Volunteer state. The regular Army doesn't put up with that crap. I hope the TNARNG dealt harshly with him.
