This is a sad day and HUGE loss for the fashion world.

LONDON – British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead at his London home, his spokeswoman said. He was 40 years old.

Company spokeswoman Samantha Garrett said McQueen's body was discovered Thursday morning but said she had no information "in terms of circumstances."

Police did not directly comment when asked about how McQueen died, but said officers were called by the ambulance service at 10:20 a.m. (1020 GMT) to an address on Green Street, in central London, and found a 40-year-old man dead. They did not name him but said next of kin had been informed.

The force said a post-mortem would be conducted but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

yeah I totally couldn't believe the news either. I wonder what could have cause him to want to take his own life?

Where does this story say it's suicide? "Not suspicious" could include natural causes, or an accident, or an unintended overdose.

Wow, I always thought he was one of the most talented fashion designers out there. He seemed to be very influential to the new up-and-comers of the fashion industry.

I knew who he was because of all the stuff he did with Bjork back in the late 90s. They did the video for Alarm Call, which is one of my fav Bjork songs.

I was absolutely shocked when I saw this thread title. Watched a documentary about Mr. McQueen not long ago. He was such a talented and innovative designer. He will surely be missed.

Artists, by nature, are sensitive creatures.
    It's quite a loss.
Interesting too, is the story of his late fashion benefactor, Isabella Blow with her suicidal tendencies and general outlook on things.

He's one of the greats in the Fashion industry; his take on perspective was utterly mind-blowing. He set quite a few standards with his shows, and added more of a theatrical theme to fashion weeks. He might be gone but he's got a huge legacy that will remain, no doubt about it.
