I ran out of dextrose but I can't find any in my city so i got some glutamine. Are they at all the same? If not what will work instead?

Dextrose is D-glucose or a simple carbohydrate....Dextrose provides energy

Glutamine is an amino acid...glutamine is a component of protein... glutamine is marketed as a supplement that speeds muscle recovery after exercise

Glutamine and Dextrose are very different and not interchangeable

If you have to raise your levels of serum glucose (insulin shock is an example) table sugar will work.. Table sugar (sucrose) consists of glucose and fructose..

I thought dextrose was supposed to replenish your glycogen stores in your muscles. Is this not the case?

Any carb will do that. Sucrose, simple sugar, post workout, works as good as anything.

You'll want to study up on the various sugars.

A simple post workout drink is the following:
    100g of corn starch
    1 cup of juice
    2 scoops of whey protein
    1 piece of sugar candy

    Cheap, and, highly effective.

You'll want to read above, do some research, or hire someone to help you.

Sounds like you're not spending enough time reading on this.

You can order dextrose (and 100% whey protein isolate) cheaply online at www.bulkfoods.com.

I just use plain, ol' kool aid mixed with my shake after a work out
