As I type this at a coffee shop, a gay guy (so I thought) sat next to me for about 30 minutes. We only made small conversation as I needed to get by to the power socket for my laptop. He was nice when I asked him to move a bit as I reached for the socket. I kept on telling myself, be a fuckin man and try to get his number on the night before Valentines. So I wrote my number down on a piece of paper and was about to make my move when he got up and decided it was time to go. I said to myself "You stupid stupid stupid, you should have done it earlier". He gathered all of his belongins and headed for the door and I didn't make my move. Yup, I let this stud of a man walk out. Sometimes I just gotta grow a pair and go after it.

    Happy evening guys...

No need to be too hard on yourself Aggie. Overcoming the awkwardness of that first encounter can be pretty overwhelming if there aren't enough signals in the brief conversation you two had. I know as well as anyone.

People tend to frequent the same coffee shops often, so there's the likelihood you'll meet again - and the second time it's easier to start up a chat and exchange numbers.
