Chest Training -- What do you think of this guys chest routine?

    Yes yes, I know he's hot. What do you think of his workout? Ive always wondered, when people isolate their right and left pecs, is it any better?

    I like the idea, but I have a couple criticisms of his technique: One is he sometimes locks his elbows at the top of the press; another is he sometimes does a Valsalva (holds his breath when lifting); and lastly he throws the dumbbells on the floor when he's done. (Would hate to be nearby and end up with a broken toe!)

    But who am I to really criticize a guy who obviously looks amazing...

    Geez.. Can we just ban all Scott Herman videos from here?

    The guy is nice to look at, but his fitness advice is horrible. He promotes a lot dangerous movements and poor exercise form.

    I couldn't sit through 20 minutes of that, even if he _is_ hot. By "isolate" do you mean the act of using dumbbells instead of a barbell?

    Don't get me wrong, I'm totally jealous of his bod, but it definitely goes to show that genetics plays such a massive role in development, 'cause I don't think I'd get very far with that workout (or at least the first 12 minutes of it anyways)

    I think its a pretty good routine to switch things up. Ive done similar things with different body parts and do a variation on drop sets with chest at times, Ive found that drop sets really can improve size and strength. Ill probably try this particular workout of Scott's in the gym next week.

    As for the throwing of the weights, at some of those heavy dumbells he is lifting you just dont place them down lightly sometimes it easier to throw them down just make sure you have an open space.

    Really dont get alll the negativity in this thread towards him and really like his tip to get those heavier dumbbells up, I always have a problem with that first lift

    Eek.....yeah, never lock your elbows. I've been told I do the bench press incorrectly because I let the bar down far enough to almost lay on my chest. I've been told to stop the descension at about 4 inches above the chest to avoid any rotator cuff issues.

    Lifting the head, butt, legs, feet, is considered bad form. I used to lift my butt but you will hear about it from the PT-wannabees.

    the incline does not have be that steep really, nothing wrong with what he set it on, mine is similar maybe a little steepier but not much different
