Yeah, we've succeeded in censorship. I know I feel much safer now.

The Klan can rally but this dickwad can't sing his stupid Marijuana anthem. I am proud to be an American.

Let him tour; all he can do is demonstrate his own ignorance.

He is free to say what he wants. Although promoting violence against any group of people should not be tolerated.

GLAAD is free to say what they want,

And if the concert promoters feel that he is not portraying the image or message they want, they are free to take him off the tour

He's not prohibited from touring, in the same way that new coke isn't prohibited from being sold, but it sucked (like he does), people spoke up (like GLAAD did), and coke make a decision to get rid of new coke

Your freedom to express yourself does not absolve you of the consequences from your speech.

No one has told him that he can't sing his lyrics or that he has to stop writing homophobic songs. Just like he has the right to sing whatever he wants, musical venues have the right not to support or promote his hateful content. Likewise, GLAAD has the right to vocalize its opposition. I see nothing wrong with businesses making the decision not to associate themselves with a controversial artist who sings hate-filled lyrics. I'm not seeing how this guy is victim of a violation of free speech.

We have a US TV show built around the concept of not letting certain people sing in public, while others can. It's called AMERICAN IDOL. Where would Simon be if he didn't get to tell some singers to never step onto a stage again?

If your act's not wanted it's not wanted, whether because of your lyrics or your voice, or maybe just your looks, has nothing to do with censorship. Capleton can rent out a church hall if he likes, where he can sing his homophobic lyrics to his heart's content, and to great applause, no doubt.

just like when a person crosses the street without looking both ways:
you have the right of way ... unless you're in the way.

I think it's ok if a venue doesn't want certain performers. Nazi rock is a phenomenon I'm sure you won't see on many mainstream concert venues.

but just to avoid double standards we should all burn our bob marley records, cos as far as I heard he was quite the homophobe himself. in fact burn all reggae, I'm sure the whole genre is soaked in homophobia.
you'll totally hear it if you play it backwards. icon_razz.gif
