Of course Hawaii is highest... you would have to be one hell a big douchebag to not be happy living there, lol.

Iowa is #5??? I live in Iowa, and this place sucks. It's great if you enjoy endless fields of corn and the smell of pig shit, but otherwise it's a dump. Of course, I grew up in West Virginia (#50) so Iowa is an improvement. At any rate, if the housing market rebounds and I can get a good price for mine I'm outta this place.

Since the Islands of Hawai'i really are and should officially be an independent country from mainland US of A. It's what it's people want too. That makes Utah the most happiest state in the whole US of A. Right on.......I loved my time in Utah, and met a lot of happy people too, unlike the false smile in CA.

It's not false for everyone... pot really does make people happier, lol. But seriously, I've met a lot of genuinely nice and happy people out here. Even when they're in a shitty situation, they're optimistic and forgiving. Now I'm sure there are many of the superficial, actor wannabes out here too, but they're not the only people here. icon_smile.gif

This is just more valid proof that the best part of America is the American heartland or the "real America". It is awesome to see most coastal states rank well below many midwestwern and mountain west states. As for the realjocker who said Ohio is an armpit, I say wrong it is only Toledo and Cincinnati that are the armpits. The rest of Ohio is beautiful. Hopefully it can improve its rankings.

wow, I'm surprised! Wasn't expecting Utah, Montana, and Alaska to be up there. CA's spot makes since, high unemployment plus high cost of living doesn't equal happy people hehe

The title is a bit misleading. This is actually a measure of Wellbeing done by Gallup. However, if you feel good, surely you must be happy. icon_biggrin.gif

And Utah is actually a nice state. a different type of fundies. icon_biggrin.gif

New York ranks 32nd and Pennsylvania ranks 30th in the happiness scale. I thought both states would fare much worse given their serious economic and financial problems.
