Victorians are being warned to be on their guard if attending Sydney Mardi Gras this month as the city battles a syphilis outbreak.

The AIDS council of NSW (ACON) this month launched a health promotion campaign urging gay men (it should include bisexual men too) to get tested at least twice yearly for the STI after figures showed a sharp increase in syphilis rates among gay men.icon_eek.gif

Victorian AIDS Council (VAC) executive director Mike Kennedy said: Although syphilis diagnosis in Victoria had dropped over the past two years. it was still an issue in Sydney.

So if anyone from RJ is planning on coming Down Under, for the Sydney Mardi Gras, please take care, and be safe.

Please don't forget to pop down to Melbourne for some quality time either. You may find you end up loving the gay scene in Melbourne, Australia's most livable city, better than Sydney.
