This is what happens to your home budget to get the bills paid; cutbacks.

Baloney. He campaigned on this. His doing so has nothing to do with budgets. He did it for his moral reasons.

Care to make a pro-Republican comment, southbeach1500? Or any other Republican supporters here?

Please tell us why this lock-step compliance with the Republican Party platform is a good thing, and why we should listen to your mantra about how great Republicans are for us gays, and why we should vote for them?

As a Virginaian I was very dissapointed that he's our new governor. Virginia was on such a good path with our past two governors and now he has come along to debunk all that progress. Glad I'm not in high school anymore because I'm sure my school would suck now that they're getting even less money than they were barely surviving on before. Thanks a lot Bob, way to go.

This is what happens when Democrats sit on their hands. My fucking God I hate the South and social conservatism. I am a native Southerner and will NEVER go back there again because of shit like this. Bob McConnell is widely viewed as a moderate. Dear Lord what would a far RW governor have done?

He's only viewed as a moderate because he didn't have a primary challenger to force him to show his true fangs--err--colors. For those who don't know, he graduated from Pat Robertson's CBN University. They changed its name to Regent University, but his diploma says CBN.

southbeach1500 saidSpeaking as an Independent, because I am not a Republican, my opinion is that this was a step backwards.

It will be interesting to see if the Governor will answer the question of why he did it.

Good answer. I wouldn't recognize you as an Independent based on your previous posts here, but OK, you don't support this action in Virginia, and upon that we agree.

I live in the Hampton Roads area of VA and his sweeping budget cuts are going to set this state way back. Most of us knew what this guy was going to do once in office, so no surprise here. He campaigned as a moderate but I knew otherwise.

A few years ago when he was running for AG, I attended a Mother's Day Sunday service with my Mom and he showed up at this Mega church to give a "non-political" brief chat. It was supposed to be about mother's and all the great things that they do, but instead, he lectured about "traditional" values where the wife was supposed to obey and support the husband. I was so embarrassed for all the wonderful mothers' that day and appalled that this church would let this happen.

That was the last Sunday my mother attended that church.

I'm saddened that we are going to lose funding for False Cape State Park and it appears likely it's going to close. I'm more upset that funding for social services, homeless programs, and school lunch menus are going by the wayside.

I'm not a fan of taxes, but these broad base pledges of "no new taxes" aren't realistic. I'm hoping the economy picks up and revenue increases so these programs will be re-instated but something inside me tells me our new Governor won't do that. Probably more tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy.

He said the previous two governors overstepped their bounds by including sexual orientation as a protected class in their work staff. Protections for state workers existed due to executive orders by his predecessors. So, his reasoning for doing this is that he's just a piece of shit in league with Satan. Not that that's a bad thing. Some of my best friends are pieces of shit in league with Satan.

I believe religious views have no place in determining public policy in America.

By the way.... I thought you had me on "Ignore".....

Correct, I did, as I had previously stated. Then I changed it.
