I am absolutely pumped to go to Bonnaroo this year! http://bonnaroo.com/.

Just wondering if there are any other RJers out there who are planning to go to the festival. The lineup is incredible, and one of my favorite artists-- the John Butler Trio,
    [url]http://johnbutlertrio.com//url] and http://www.myspace.com/johnbutlertrio

is also going to be there, although they did not make the first wave of official announcements.

I have been to smaller weekend rock festivals in the past where I camped for the weekend, but nothing of this magnitude. (any Floridians remember Livestock?) This is going to be epic! I have not been this excited about a show since Woodstock II and III, and I was unable to afford either of those.

If anyone is going, perhaps we can network, or if anyone has been to past major music festivals and wants to share their experiences, share away!

I may be going alone to this event, so I'm up for meeting some new friends along the way.

Yup, I love the John Butler Trio! Saw them at the Woodford Folk Festival near me. I'd love to go to Bonnaroo, but it's a little too far away... Maybe next year.

I've always wanted to go. Tea Leaf Green, Robert Randolph and other band I love have performed in the past. I was just never able to make it happen.

If money is an issue, you could do what I am going to do... volunteer!

If you don't mind staying a few extra days to clean up the tons of garbage left behind, check this out: http://www.cleanvibes.com/index.cfm They pay for your ticket.

It's not for everyone, but if you love the earth and don't mind getting dirty, check it out.

Tom_Tom- yes I guess Bonnaroo would be a bit far from you if you are near Woodford! I would love to get out there to the land of Oz someday. I would probably never want to leave. There is another guy on here I have been chatting with that went to that show. Did JBT play a good set?

That is exactly how I feel... FINALLY!

Will you be camping with a group or anything, or staying in a hotel?

I'm still looking for some people to connect with at the campsite, so I am not just a lone tent next to my car in the sea of strangers, lol. I will be staying a few days afterward for the clean up crew- nothing wrong with a few extra days of camping! This will be my first week-long vacation in many years.

Holy cow, that lineup looks good. I won't list all the bands I like that will be there cuz there's too many. I have to convince some people to go.

Yup, they're set was pretty good. But the weather was pretty terrible - it rained for their whole set (quite heavily). I enjoyed other acts a lot more.

Those of you who think the lineup for Bonnaroo is good, well, I agree-- but just wait!

I am not going to directly post it here, because it is mere speculation and rumor, but I feel reasonably confident that an incredibly talented and influential band, from San Francisco, from the 80's and 90's, who's last album was released in 1997, who recently reunited, and who's last scheduled tour date is Coachella in California, April 17, will be headlining Bonnaroo this year.

It's just a hunch, but a very well founded one. And this band happens to be one of my ALL TIME favorites.

I am so excited right now I can hardly compose myself, because I MISSED seeing them on their final tour in '97 because I had to work that day... I could have well afforded it, and I drove past the venue to get to work. A long-burning resentment is about to be erased, at least I hope.

Yes, the Bonnaroo lineup as it is would be fine for me, enough so that I have already committed to going. After all, my current favorite, John Butler Trio, will be there. But the costs are still steep to justify... but if I am right about who I think is headlining, this is a bargain!

I also just heard that Soundgarden is supposed to play at Lollapalooza this year- that in itself is cool, but I wonder if they are planning to make a stop in TN in June before they hit Chicago? Hmmm....

Camping of course!!! I hope to be going with a friend and my god-children, but if they don't go I'll let you know and we can camp next to each other. I say we try to recruit as many RJ'ers as possible to go and create a great camp area.
