the US men's team just beat the Canadian team 5-3! The Canadians pulled their goalie in the last minute or so, and a surprise goal sealed the deal...it was really close in the final minute. Well done, USA! (Canada: good game...)

That game was incredible, deserved the hype. Newbie Miller outshone veteran Brodeur (42 of 45 compared to 18 of 22) big time. How did Babcock not account for capable fellow Red Wing Rafalski? Crosby only scored once in 6 power play opportunities? I wonder how much will that result shake the world of Canadian hockey.

On another note, why the hell was that game relegated to MSNBC in favor of ice dancing? Even accounting for my hockey bias, I still don't understand that decision despite their explanation.

The Canadian men's team is not playing too well at all. They had to win against Switzerland in a shoot out, which gave a lot of stress. I'm sure they''ll beat Germany on Tuesday and qualify for the quarter-finals. They've still got a chance. The women's team on the other hand is playing incredibly. Here are the scores for their first two games:

    Canada vs. Slovakia 18-0
    Canada vs. Sweden 13-1

They're getting the gold! They play Finland tomorrow if anyone wants to see another massacre.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. More adversity now may lead to a better cohesive team in the long run? (wishful thinking).

Luongo might have the home rink advantage, but it was nice to see old timer Brodeur still working it, though he wasn't performing up to par in that game for sure.

Brodeur's puck handling ability (or lack thereof) cost him a few goals. He's usually a great puck handler but he just didn't show up tonight.

Unfortunately it didn't work against the Americans tonight. Miller was the shining goalie--42 of 45 saves! And against the likes of Staal, Crosby, Toews and Getzlaf too.

    But go Team U.S.A. icon_smile.gif

I do wonder why NORWAY is beating Canada at the medal count. Nothing against the Norwegians, but Canada has more than 7 times Norway's population and almost 30 times its area, not to mention home court advantage.

I remember that well and this isn't even close! You were talking college boys vs. the Russian athlete machine (for those of you who dont recall, Russia would pretty much take care of athletes and have them train as wards of the state from a young age).

Maybe because Norway became one of the richest country in the world?
They were 13 at the last Olympics, and now 3rd...its not Norway that is confusing, its more that we are tying with like Korea in the medal count icon_eek.gif
