Hey guys, I currently workout every other day and I want to change it up icon_biggrin.gif

I have always worked out biceps on a separate day from back and triceps separate from chest. I know there's things ALL of the internet about this but can I do back/bi and chest/triceps? Some people have said NO and others say YES. I have to say that it is pretty hard making a schedule w/ me cuz chest and tris can never be on the same day and I can't work chest one day then the next tris and same for back and biceps.

I would like to continue the every other day thing cuz I don't workout the same days every week icon_biggrin.gif So it goes mon, wed, fri, sun, tues, thurs, sat, etc. I also considered the mwf and sun workout

why can´t you do chest and back on the same day then bi/tri as another group, maybe with something else, like legs

I'd say it depends on what you want.

If you've been doing the same thing for a long time, definitely change it up.

In general, what I've found is that if I want to grow my arms, the best way to do it is to pair biceps and triceps together in the same workout. But if that's not your main focus, then I'd do back followed by biceps, and forearms in one workout, then chest, shoulders and triceps on another day.

The logic behind the chest/bi then back/tri things is that you'll have more power in your bis and tris on those days because you haven't been using them. Personally, I haven't found that to be true.

There's so much crap out there on working out: only train one body part a week; there's no need to train your abs because they're worked when you do other exercises, etc ... Often conflicting theories appear one month after another in the Men's Fitness magazines!

I say experiment, listen to and look at your body and see how it responds, always. We're all different.

For example, I make the best gains when I work body parts twice in the same week, even though that goes totally against what's published.

as lost boy suggested, training opposing muscle groups together is a better idea (bi/tri, chest/back). also when you say u can't train chest and triceps on the same day, it's what u do when you perform pushups.

    OK I am liking the bi/tri chest/back thing icon_biggrin.gif

So do I workout tris or bis first in the bi/tri workout?

So here is what I have (this will start next week)

    Week 1 Mon- Tri/Bi Tues-Rest Wed-C/B Thurs-Rest Fri-Tri/Bi Sat-Rest Sun-Shoulders/Legs
    Week 2 Mon-Rest Tues-C/B Wed-Rest Thurs-Tri/Bi Fri-Rest Sat-C/B Sun-Rest

Then repeat 1 and 2, etc
