Why are you into Fitness and/or Body Building?

After I dislocated my left shoulder twice in 2008, I realized that unless I become stronger, I would always live with the fear of having to endure that pain again in the future. Fitness made me stronger physically and mentally. It showed me that I have no limitations; only my own doubts stand in my way. And now I want to teach fitness because I know I can show everyone that fitness isn't as complicated as it seems to be for many people. Fitness changed my life and helped me to reach goals that I never thought I'd be able to achieve.

Well that's my story. What's yours?

You know that weird quirk you see in your parents where you deliberately try NOT to have that they do? Well, they were overweight and I saw it effect their health so much and seeing both of them so heartbroken when they were in the hospital for different reasons...I figured it was because they weren't healthy and fit.

So my goal is to keep my partner happy and safe knowing that I'll be okay because I'm healthy and fit icon_smile.gif

it's obviously a nice tool to attract though...haha.

    - my clothes fit better
    - this pasto month in DC, we had 2 big snowstorms. I was shoveling snow about 3 hours a day for about a week. Not ONCE was I sore from shoveling. I KNOW that's because I hit the gym.
    - I also enjoy the compliments. EVEN the ones that say, "you look good for your age". LOL

I love to eat, haha. If I don't work out, I'd get obese, fast. I definitely have the genes for it (relating back to the post about overweight parents).

I also enjoy the challenge, to an extent. And the camaraderie (read, i like checking out the hot guys at the gym, LOL!)

I wish I had less shallow reasons...

My main motivation is that I want to be as healthy/toned/muscular/damn sexy as the guys I'm normally attracted to.

You have to pay to play, I think...

Hey this isn't shallow at all. That's another reason why I started to workout. Being a tall, skinny, weak dude didn't do much for me. icon_razz.gif

and if that's shallow I just don't care, I secretly take pride in being called a meathead icon_razz.gif

Everything he said... plus it really makes me feel good to see and know that I am taking care of myself after such a long time not even wanting me. It's sort of a way of making amends to myself for that.

    Not to mention, it's fun!

Same with me....making amends to myself for the mistreatment of my body in my 20's

I'm with these two, it's why I started.

But I didn't appreciate other improvements that would follow: More energy, more stamina, better posture, less chronic lower back pain, clothes fit me better! And the list goes on.

I am into fitness because this part of life, as we know it, is VERY true:

You only get one body in this one life & YOU yourself have to do right by it. The real deal behind my being in shape is this: 7 years ago, I was 238, my heaviest & well it took my breathing and inflamed left knee, which was smacked in a car wreck, next to, seeing myself in pictures, to get into better shape. Now that I've done it and still working at it. did I mention that I'm hypoglycemic as well? I can maintain that as well woithout getting the shakes but if I slip up, I start to lose my mass and everything I worked for and on.

Vanity... Haha actually it's alike an addiction for me, I guess I substituted alcohol and cigs for gym, not a bad deal over all.

Also it keeps me on top of my other sports.

I remember two "older" guys at a hotel in Santa Monica about 6 or 7 years ago, both in speedos, looking spectular. I looked down at myself, thinking "you're probably 20 years younger than them and you look twice their age". That set me on the treadmill to the beauty I have become and now there's no looking back. You better work it.

I have always been a twig, so I thought it would be nice to add some muscle. Also, it just feels good and it's a great stress reliever.

Because our bodies get better with use and because there's only one real time machine:

I want to look good for the fellas.

Also, I made a promise to myself when I decided to come out when I was 20 to become as healthy as possible so that I could have a long, active, healthy, fulfiulling life to make up for the unhappy childhood/adolescense.

Haha, well luckily for him he was a friend... key word "was." I let it go... I actually work w/ the dude so we gotta be civil, he still owes me quite a bit of money though. He's lucky that me and the D.A. are both nice, otherwise he'd be getting charged w/ felony battery and fuuuuucked. icon_smile.gif However, after having my jaw wired shut for 2 months I will definitely fuck up anybody who touches me again, friend or not.
