leixguy saidI haven't really been following the whole assassination thing but what little i have read makes my stumach churn, they have (allegedly) used 7 forged irish passports (one of which was of our former prime ministers brother) and yet they refuse to apologise (to the United Kingdom or Ireland). all this after we almost expelled the israeli ambassador last year over the war in gaza- but maybe they just wanted to insult us for that who knows.
anyways that's my rant over.
"One can only assume that Israel either has no regard for international law or holds Ireland and the other EU states affected in contempt."
Actually, both are true.
Israel knows it can violate international law with impunity, since the United States will veto any U.N. Security Council resolution with teeth.
Every year, the United Nations General Assembly passes a resolution in favor of allowing Palestinian refugees to return to their homes which they were evicted from in 1948. Every year, Israel ignores said resolution, since the U.N. General Assembly has no power to enforce its resolutions. Every year, American media ignores this, since it is unfavorable to Israel.
As a Jew, it pains me deeply to see the government of Israel engage in criminal activity (forged passports, assassinations, etc.), since I have relatives in Israel who are in danger as long as the 61 year conflict continues. As an American, it pains me even more to see any member of Congress defeated for reelection when such member points out the truth.
American supporters of Israel were successful in making Obama back down on his demand that Israel stop expanding in territories it captured in 1967. Peace in the Middle East is impossible as long as Israel continues to build new settlements in territories it illegally occupies, on land which is stolen, after the Palestinians who had been living there for generations are ethnically cleansed.
