Well, I've been traveling and returned late last night. So, I thought to watch what had recorded. I decided to start with the guys (duh).

Well, what the hell happened this year? These guys (except for MAYBE one or two) were terrible - just terrible! And I mean terrible!

Many appear way too young (they sound like chipmunks), and, most all can't sing much less carry a tune !!!

This was the best of the hundreds of thousands who auditioned? Simon's comments were right on with each one.

I dread watching the girls now.

    What did you think?

The girls were equally horrible. This is the end of the road for American Idol. Ellen Degeneres is too serious, Paula was funnier.

Totally underwhelming this season. I'm going to give it another week or two, but at this point I'm considering deleting it from my DVR's schedule.

I love most of them, I think they're great singers.

    Ellen irritates me.

They said it was a year for the girls, and then the girls SUCKED. I thought the guys did pretty good, for the most part. Especially the long haired one. I don't know why but he's so.. Alice In Chains for me. I love it.

I can't believe I wasted time this week watching that horror show. It was like watching a high school talent contest.

RuPaul's Drag Race is the only reality show for me, from now on.

I cannot believe that anyone in their right mind would waste their time watching idiotic, tacky garbage like American Idol. I despise that show.

the guys are terrible save two: casey and chicago dude.
hard to say if any of the top 24 are good performers (as opposed to "musicians").

In my opinion, Idol peaked in Seasons 4 and 5. After that, the talent has been going downhill. And then adding in Kara was pointless. I don't feel she really adds anything to the show, but she's tolerable, I guess. Ellen, on the other hand, is just a waste of time. I don't watch Ellen's talk show so I don't know much about her, but just from watching her on Idol, she doesn't seem to know a whole lot about music (or at least not as much as the other judges), and she repeats the same thing to everybody. "I really like you, I hope you stay!"- I'm telling you I think she said that to every single contestant I saw. I think I could take her place, and I wouldn't be any worse (and I don't know too much about other music besides country, but I don't think too many people could be worse than Ellen)! Why did they ask her again? Just because Paula left doesn't mean they needed someone to take her place. Idol was fine with 3 judges before, they would be fine with 3 judges again.

I half paid attention to Idol last year (I'll admit the main reason I paid attention last season was because of Kris Allen lol), and I don't know if I can make it through this season. There were only 3 people (2 female and 1 male) who I thought had good performances. I hope it improves.

I must be old fashioned, because I still prefer the music of people who struggled performing in a garage or basement and then finally bars and clubs and all the while had complete creative control of the songs, artists, and music styles they chose to cover as well as the music they created themselves.

    Ellen isn't worth watching.

She needs to get up, shove one aside, and do a lip-synced song of her own.

Ellen is a big disappointment as a judge (and I love Ellen). She just doesn't seem to feel comfortable in this position, and it doesn't seem like a natural fit for her at all. Paula leaving has left a huge hole in the show...its heart. As for the contestants, it's still a little early. They are still dealing with nerves and gaining their confidence. It really isn't until the Top 12 when the cream starts to rise to the top.

I thought all but two of the guys were pretty good, considering recorded music these days. I felt for what's his-name Urban, the guy they pulled back after ejecting him.. I thought he did a pretty good job, and all the judges were down on him cause they rejected him once. Ellen is not bringing much too it, and I like here too. Seen her show a couple times, and she's good on it. On Idol she seems totally out of it, and whoever does her eye makeup ought to find a new career.

I don't see myself watching faithfully like I have in the past. There just aren't the singers there normally is. They all pretty much suck/ There is no Dougherty, no Adam..........no Jennifer Hudson - it sucks

Not one contestant remotely stands out this year. I'm sort of shocked that this is the best that was found. Perhaps they need to start admitting singers who are older than 16 to 20s!

I was pretty disappointed with the top 12 girls performance that I didn't bother watching the guys. they did a lot better during Hollywood week icon_sad.gif
