Can someone please tell me how to upload a youtube link?

So the actual clip appears in a forum, and not just the url?

When I use the "add url" function, all I can get up is just the link.

If there's some special code, can someone please send me an example as a template to use? Or if there's a simple solution, please tell me!

And if you don't know what I'm talking about but suspect you might be able to help, please say so.

    Cheers!

Just copy and paste the embed code ...on the right highlighted in blue when you click on it ... and paste it directly in the RJ message box.

Yeah actually I was curious on that too. What if the pic isn't a URL? Do you have to create a URL?

As for the vidlink, thanks for answering, and to meninlove for giving me a handheld training session via IM. It works:

    The stuff above is good.

As well, youtube has a comprehensive help section. That should be your resource of first choice.

In this case, it's under sharing videos, and has a comprehensive checklist for you to follow.

When you want to post a pic, click the "img" button above the text input box when composing a post. Then paste the URL for the pic you want between the img brackets, deleting the instructional message that initially appears between those brackets.

When you find your image online, right-mouse click it, and you should get an option to open it in a separate window. This is the URL you want to copy and paste from the top of your browser. Some images, however, are protected against copying or linking, and that won't work.

To post your own images, you need to join a free service like Photobucket.com, where you can upload your pics, and then copy their links into RJ messages as described above. Unless you have your own web site, or access to one from a company or elsewhere that allows you to upload images.

Interestingly, I don't know of a way to post RJ photos from our own profiles into thread posts. You can put them in RJ emails, but not threads. If anyone knows a way to do this, please let me know here.

YouTube video embeds work as direct pastes, without using either the img or URL buttons. You can also post sound clips here, using a service like soundboard.com, though not every member may be able to hear them.

In order to link back to stuff in your profile you need an advanced browser such as Firefox that allows you to view the background image. You simple copy that URI and paste it into the posting form.

    Like this:

Note that the above image is being fetched from

Primitive browsers, such as those from M$, require you to view the source to get the image info. Firefox is a much better choice for a long list of reasons.
