In light of the recent, and outrageous gaybashing in Austin a rally has formed, to contest the discrimination and show that the gay community will not stand for this shit.

It's really great to see some stand up and fight coming from the community on a considerable scale, maybe well have marriage rights and housing rights in all the states some day, I think it will take a lot more of this kind of thing.

If you live in the state you could still come right now and make it icon_biggrin.gif

There has been gay bashing in supposedly gay friendly Austin? It really doesn't surprise me because during my nine years of living in that horrendously overrated city, I have heard a lot of anti-gay slurs along with racial slurs out in public. It is quite obvious to any sound minded person that the fabled land of billboards, overhead power lines, pawn shops, and strip plazas is not nearly as progressive and liberal as it is cracked up to be. Go figure.

Austin's a great city, which is why were so concerned. Im just promoting the event here, I thought some of the guys here would feel good reading it.

Its always good to have a condescending asshole's opinion on the matter though. thank you.

Damn, I should have checked this earlier. I would have so gone.

And RoadbikeRob, Austin is much more progressive and nowhere near as racist as Georgia. My experience has been nothing but positive, and this is coming from a black, gay male.

This past week there were a couple of guys from the local gay softball team walking to their car late at night, they were stalked by four men and beaten pretty badly in the parking garage at city hall.

ill put a picture of the rally up it was pretty sweet

ps to that asshole at the top, me and my boyfriend got sandwiches half off at my favorite sub place - thundercloud! - cause the sandwich dude was stoked that the rally was going on. telling us about how some transgendered people worked there.

we got cheered on in the streets, and had a lot of public speakers including 3 city council members, over 1000 people at least, and all this set up in less than 1 week.

Here's the story with some video
One thing I like is that they fought back .... and the freakin' coward attackers were actually surprised that two gay guys would fight back

I am waiting for the day when one of these dirtbags get his head handed to him by some flaming queen icon_wink.gif

I guess some things never change with the Austin realjerks oops I mean realjocks. Expose the actual truth about their so-called progressive, gay friendly town on IH-35 and the Colorado River and they get all bent out of shape and hurl juvenile tirades at me like Progress calling me an asshole just for speaking the truth about good ol' Austin, Texas. Oh well, life goes on. Thank God I fled Austin and moved back to a real city with real people.
