Daniel Radcliffe, Harry Potter star, supports the Trevor Project

"I think the fact that I'm straight shows that, actually, straight people are incredibly interested and care a lot about this as well, and that you don't just have to be gay to take an interest [in helping prevent suicide among LGBT youth]. This is for me the thing I'm probably most passionate about," said Daniel Radcliffe while filming a new PSA for The Trevor Project.

Well it's also amazing to watch any movie actor grow up on screen, to see them as young kids becoming adults, to be able to compare performances over the years, especially now with DVDs. That's what the Harry Potter role allowed with him, along with his co-stars, since the basic characters have remained constant as they grew older.

It also happened with a few legendary Hollywood stars from many years ago, like Shirley Temple and Mickey Rooney, beginning as precocious little kids. Only their careers didn't continue as successfully into adulthood, either by choice or circumstance. Be interesting to see how Radcliffe does, and I wish him the best. I hope he has good career judgment, and good people around him.

PAJohn saidGood for Dan Rad but I hope he's throwing some $$$$ their way too. I understand he's the wealthiest person under 21 years of age in the UK and that he has more personal wealth than even Princes William or Harry.

If you'd have watched the clip, you'd have known that he talks about how he's financially involved with the foundation ;)

question: so it's disingenuous if he's financially supporting the prevention of (homosexual and those questioning) suicide?

Not sure why you quoted me and not the post I was responding to... I'm also not sure how you got that from what I stated.

The post I responded to wanted to know if Dan was supporting the Trevor Project with some of his wealth. He is.

Even before the Trevor Project Dan's always been fairly outspoken on behalf of the GLBTQQA community.

So no, it's not disingenuous in the least. He's just doing more to help now.

Unfortunately, the Trevor Project is not an outstanding steward of the money it receives, according to Charity Navigator.

Its usually written GLBTIQ (gay, lesbian, transgender, intersex, queer (or sometimes people say questioning)

in this case, i think its gay lesbian bisexual transgender queer questioning intersex ally...

but most people are ok with calling it the queer community these days...
