Ya, that was pretty intense. I can't believe the U.S.A scored in the last minute!

I am proud that Canada won, even though I am a U.S. citizen. Good for them!
I only wish that when the U.S. team got their silver medals, they could have smiled and been proud too.

Congratulations CANADA! Though I am not a hockey fan and didn't watch the match, I heard how intense it was and I can only imagine the noise level in Vancouver when the Canadians won. Congrats to my Canadian pals and especially to my Vancouver pals (though most have spoken of their disdain of the games being in the city) for the best winter games I have ever seen!!

as soon as the games started that disdain immediately vanished.. I was always a supporter though.

I was at Robson and Granville. At first there were 7 in our group. Then there were 5. Then there were 3. The street was not wide enough to handle the amount of people and next thing you know, we're having a guinness book of record for the most number of people grinding in one place! icon_twisted.gif

Too bad there was no hottie I could grind against...I was amongst some innocent girls who were crying in anxiety because they wanted out but there was no way to get out. My sister was being lifted off her feet and just 'hovering' as the crowd behind kept pushing. Pretty crazy!!!

Yes and as an American I would like to personally pay tribute to the BEEFCAKE young man who scored the winning goal for Canada.

    Oh Canada.

Congrats to the Canadians! Enjoyed the suspenseful game. Yeah Sid the Kid is a sexy stud! I guess I'm going to have a Molson to salute our friends up north. Good job!

GO CANADA. . .and it was not luck. . .It was yet once again the winning goal by the newest Hockey God. . . SIDNEY CROSBY. . . .this is so huge for the game of hockey and so huge for Sid. His name can now be spoken in the same breath as the previous Canadian hockey greats, Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretsky. . . this could not have been a more perfect game and perfect ending. . . something out of a movie. . .

My goodness what a day, what a day. I could hear the horns honking in DT TO until midnight. I wish I could have been out there more. I was a tad overserved for a Sunday and called it quits early! icon_biggrin.gif

It's funny because when you look around at all the countries in the world, there are no team sports, that I can think of, that unify an entire country like hockey did to Canada yesterday.

Sure, there's the World Cups, and the Super Bowls, etc. etc. But on a real international scale, Canada is the only country that would go that nuts across the entire nation at the same time, over a sport! Weird eh?

I agree. . . we have the superbowl here, but really, not everyone likes football. You either love it or hate it. Its not like a national treasure like Hockey is to Canada. . .something youre born doing. The school systems here in the states are so bad anyway, kids are not given the opportunity to engage in sports activities at an early age in schools anymore.
