So it appears that Jay Leno back at "The Tonight Show" is a ratings winner for NBC. He drew 6.6 million viewers compared to Letterman's 3.8 million. He did not, however, match the ratings of Conan O'Brien's first night on "The Tonight Show", but Jay's 2nd night last night with Sarah Palin, Shawn White, and Adam Lambert had a much less drop off than Conan's 2nd night. The 2nd night's ratings also solidly beat Letterman again who had Mitt Romney as the main guest.

I watched Leno the first night, not the second. But then I usually would watch the Monday show only, anyway, before the Conan Catastrophe, rarely the rest of the week.

I'm less interested in Leno's standup jokes than his standout bikes. I'd love to see his motorcycle collection, and his cars, as well.

Of course he got the ratings. There's nothing else to watch. The 11:30pm time slot is a goldmine. That's why Leno didn't want to give it up.

You are certainly NOT alone. His humor is pretty unimaginative. Lowest common denominator. I didn't care about him before the feud, but now I'm disgusted. I may even change the local evening news that I watch so I don't have to suffer through the promos for his show.

I like his jokes well enough, but I'm sure it's partly generational, and the older comics upon which he modeled himself, which I also mostly liked. He's just a year younger than me (1949 vs 1950).

He doesn't have the sharpness of some younger comics, or their creative slant on humor, many using outrageous and athletic physical gestures and heavy on crudity. But the job here is to do this 5 times a week for most of the year, year after year. And before a diverse TV audience that includes the demographics that advertisers want.

I think some of those younger comics would get old real quick, in a performance sense. Funny for an evening's show at a club or guesting on TV or doing a special, but not funny night after night. And then they have to be able to hold a friendly & informed interview with every kind of guest.

Many others have attempted it over the years, and few have succeeded. I wouldn't totally dismiss anyone who can do what Leno & Letterman have done for all those years, even if I can find fault with them myself.

No, I don't find him funny at all. And I still think it was disingenuous how he kind of blamed Conan's ratings for the mess, even with Leno trying to be nicer in the end. His own ratings at 10:00 were low and became a poor lead in for the local news and finally a poor lead in for Conan. I think people thought the 10:00 show would be something new and innovative, but it was only his same show in an earlier time slot.

I've never really thought he was funny and I think he's a dick for the whole Conan thing (who I like much better)... however, I think this video he made was pretty damn funny. If he would do more stuff like this, I would watch him.

I like crude humor and I like cars. So I like Leno.

Here's both in one video plus the Governator:

I enjoy Jay and Conan... too bad what happened had to happen the way it did. I feel like I am the only one that watches the first 30 minutes, I could really care less about his guess...this is the case almost always.
