The NHL was split up for 2 weeks during the Olympics to which players were drafted to their country of origin teams. Sidney Crosby who plays for the Pittsburg Penguins got the winning goal for Canada. 2 Days later Pittsburg played back at home since the Olympics started and when Sidney Crosby, who also is the Penguins captain and got the Stanley Cup last year, got a lame reception and was booed. . . .UM. . . This was his HOME ICE. . . On the PIttsburg website one woman writes. . .
------- I was so upset! I felt bad for Ryan Miller. I am a Penguin fan, but I love the USA and that hurt. I am having a hard time forgiving Sid. I know Sidney understands that we love the USA. Once the playoffs start, I am sure everyone will love Sid again. Ryan deserves all the recognition. I am sure Sidney likes passionate fans------
SHE'LL HAVE A HRD TIME FORGIVING HIM??????? WHAT THE FUCK?????? He was DRAFTED for the Olympics. . .he didnt abandon Pittsburg or the USA . . . Are people in Pittsburg really this stupid?? Fuck Pittsburg. . .SIDNEY CROSBY WILL BE WELCOME IN NY ANYTIME. . .!!!!!

seriously. . . im so aggrevated about that. . and that womens remark how she will "have a hard time forgiving him" and "once the playoffs start up, Sids fans will love him again". . .LOL. . i AM a Sidney Crosby fan but NOT a Penguins fan. Wish he would reguest a trade. . .that is NOT the way you treat you star player who wins a freakin cup for your city. Imagine if he walked off the ice after the boos??

NHL players will continue to play in the Olympics, the league got a huge popularity boost over the last 2 weeks or so, plus players like Ovechkin said he'll play in the Olympics even if the NHL doesn't take a break in 2014

Players may choose to play in the Olympics but dont think the NHL will break again. . They make no $$ from it and way too much risk.
Soulman: I think shes just a typical jackass woman who has no clue what shes talkin about while she jumps into her HONDA claiming " I love the USA"

Who knows how circumstances will change 4 years from now? If the NHL is smart enough to take advantage of people's interest the league may be convinced the break is worth the interruption. Maybe in 4 years hockey will be co-ed and with both men and women playing the league would have to take a break. Anything is possible.

Vancouver played in Columbus Tuesday night and all the Olympians from both teams were cheered loudly. The NHL should have orchestrated an "Olympic Night" in every arena that had Olympians playing the first night back. Give out Olympic pins, posters, etc.......make a big night out of it.

If the NHL does not continue the relationship with the Olympics they are crazy. It was the best two week commercial the NHL could have.

Having USA play Canada in the hockey finals was the best outcome the NHL could have wished. It was the most watched hockey game since the Lake Placid hockey finals after the Miracle on Ice in 1980.

However, the NHL could likely not break again in four years because

-the Olympics will be in Sochi, Russia, which means the games will be on not at primetime over here where ratings will be high
-there is still too much risk over who might advance. If USA or even Canada bows out early, such as during the Turin games four years ago when Sweden played Finland in the final, few people are going to tune in

I found it refreshing to hear Canadians chanting CAN-A-DA and acting nationalistic, all because millions of us Americans were watching and getting a taste of our own medicine in how we over-insert and aggrandize ourselves to the world. Perhaps that bitch and other Pittsburgh dummies felt turned-off by Canada's chanting and felt the need to project that feeling onto Crosby. I dunno. But we already know how dumb many Americans act.

But the real reason why the Olympic committee is considering dropping hockey from the line-up (boooo!) is because the sport is heavily dominated by the US and Canada. What are winter Olympics without hockey???

Exactly. . .and if key players get injured. . .their NHL team and team owners will be the ones losing out for the playoffs and rest of season. . its way too risky. Thing is. . .it wasnt like that years ago. .it was just farm teams and college guys. . .the true country pitted against country. .

Supposedly that's what happened when a bunch of college players beat the Soviet pros in 1980 in Lake Placid.
