If they're not talking about them then they're stroking them. It's just a phone.

I think I'm suffering from i phone envy.

agree, its sort of nauseating, I have one friend of mine constantly checking it when we go out anywhere to eat, um why do you have to even bring it inside, leave it in the car, he brings into the movies and fiddles with it before the movie starts, or at the beach hes constantly working it. The worst is when he brings the Grinder hookup stuff up and there is naked guys for everyone to see.

I really have no use for them. For me phones are about calling people or on the very rare occasion texting, all the other features that an Iphone provides just arent necessary

Using one to type this right now while in the car (as a passenger).

Wouldn't say I'm obsessed but I think it is the best overall smartphone right now.

My iPhone is a continuation of the PDA functionality I'd previously enjoyed with my Palm for over 10 years, combined with a cell phone. This isn't some sudden infatuation with the latest technology toy, but an evolution of things I've been doing for nearly twenty years: first cell phones, and later PDAs.

Until the iPhone I had to carry around 2 separate devices. And while I could have tried the Blackberry, its smaller screen was a big drawback, since I love to show friends the over 2000 photos I kept on my Palm, and now my iPhone. And the interface between the iPhone and my iMac computer is flawless. Combined with an Apple MobileMe account, I'm a very happy fella. icon_biggrin.gif

I think it's not just gay men.... the straight men I know who have them act the same way. It's a "boys-and-their-toys" thing.

And just so you know that this isn't me judging anyone, I, too, am an iPhone owner and I'm sure the same is said about me and my iPhone. And it is definitely a "boy-with-his-toy" thing in my case.

not just the gays... everyone is obsessed with their iPhone.
if I wasn't so hard on phones I'd probably get one too... but I'd break it.

I am however quite obsessed with my Blackberry, I'm just chatty that way.

it's not just gay men... and it's not just the iphone. it's everybody... and phones in general. it must be lonely in the little heads of those who have to have their phone in their hand all the time. i hate my phone (yes, an iphone), but it's a work necessity. i refuse to take it into the gym (separate thread!) or into social situations unless i'm on call. i used to find it annoying and offensive that i can be 'found' no matter where i am or what i'm doing, but finally gave up fighting it :-(

I don't have one, but I hear guys with iphones talk about the Grindr app quite a bit. icon_eek.gif Maybe it has something to do with that.

Grindr would be awesone if I were 20, 30 years younger. I guess not enough older guys have iPhones.

I would dispute that. My first Palm PDA was an entry-level thing, less than $100, their cheapest model. I anticipated it might end up neglected in a drawer, another silly toy, so I didn't buy the best, figured I'd make a minimal investment, see if it had any real value to me. I'd had my paper Daytimers organizer solution for nearly 20 years.

But it proved it's worth, and I began to go paperless. I gradually upgraded to the top Palm model. Now I have an iPhone, which has most of those Palm features, plus it's a cell phone.

A boy toy? Hardly, not the way I use it. Some boys have toys, and some men have tools (is that a pun?). In any case, my iPhone works hard for me, and I rely upon it. I'm way past needing toys; what I need are things that deliver results for the money, and the iPhone does that for me.

I think Apple is the Mark of the Beast. Being able to use phone, laptop, ipod and ipad all with each other is a tad creepy.

Everyone I know with one loves it.

For me, I can go to the beach and still work. I'm more punctual and less forgetful of appointments, since I have mobileme.

    Long live iPhone!

I have a phone, because of my work; I'm on call. But I don't have an i-phone, and in the next few weeks I'll be getting a new phone, and still it want be an i-phone as I don't want one.

My phone has never been attached to an umbilical cord, I can live without them. Much to my employers frustration at times.

I just assume a gay guy that doesn't own an iPhone is just a morally depraved pervert. This theory has yet to be proven wrong.

I've developed an ocd of touching my iPhone, I don't even give a shit about the apps. But when I'm alone or even with someone I keep turning the screen on and off one and off like I have to make sure it still worksicon_eek.gif
