I will not be able to watch the Oscars tonight on TV because ABC has taken there station off air wanting my cable subscriber (cablevision) to pay an additional 40million dollars a yr. Where are rabbit ears when you need em?

Here is the full story. Blame Walt Disney CEO for stupidity in shutting of the signal and Cablevision for being greedy.

I'm backing Disney on this one.

they deserve the money and cablevsion doesn't want to pay up.

so dont go blaming disney completly

"We can no longer sit back and allow Cablevision to use our shows for free while they continue to charge their customers for them," WABC's Campbell said. -- i agree completely

I am glad that with the rise of video on the internet
Cable is going to go the way of BlockBuster video and cassets
    They deserve to go bankrupt
Not that Disney is any better

Cablevision has this problem with everyone though. If it was just big bad old Disney, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but every six months, we here of a new channel that is in danger of being cut because they don't want to pay up. Why do you never hear anything about Verizon FIOS or DirectTV?

Whether you're on "Team Cable," or "Team Disney," any money demands are just gonna end up coming out of our pockets in one way, shape,or form b/c of greedy execs on BOTH sides...I concur, it's bullshit!

Networks make money by advertising during their programs, cableco's pay to carry Network programming, Networks MAKE money at every turn....

Well it was on my cable today, but I did not look, as I really don't care for such things plus the results was on tonight's news, and it will be in the mornings paper. so I did other things.

I read that Cablevision restored WABC at 8:50 p.m. Sunday. Not that you guys missed all that much. Neil Patrick Harris surprised a lot of people by coming out and opening the show with a shockingly off-color song and dance. He wore a sparkly black tuxedo jacket that was awesome. The performance was not all that.

Then Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin descended from the rafters on a sparkly half moon. They spent the next ten minutes calling out the names of various Oscar nominees sitting near the stage. Mildly funny but rather pointless.

George Clooney looked pissed throughout. Awkward.

The Oscar set was weird. Every so often a wall of lampshades descended behind the presenters. I have no f-ing clue what it was supposed to represent. Lampshades?

Overall, I was underwhelmed by the show. And why did we have to sit through the awful dancing during a montage of nominated scores? It was even more painful than the dud of a sketch with Ben Stiller made up as one of the blue characters from "Avatar."
