Anyone with half a brain - who would not want to be thought of as the next Earl Butts - or worse yet, some illiterate, toothless Jerry Springer cast member - would never think about doing something so insipid as this. This kind of racism is so far out of style that most bigots know not to pull such a stunt.

Say "goodbye" to your job and life as you knew it, Idiot.

If he said it in a malicious racist way, then I don't condone it...
But I think being unable to call someone a monkey because of the colour of their skin is ridiculous.... Political Correctness to the extreme?

I'm no fan of Bush but how often was he likened to a chimp?

so explain it to me- how can a white person call someone black a chimp, without meaning it in a malicious racist way.

I can honestly say that I had never EVER heard of calling anyone a "chimp", "monkey", "ape" whatever being RACIST until this subject came up awhile back during the 2008 election season. I just hadn't. I mean, we ALL evolved from apes so not sure why singling out black people makes it a racist comment. I get that people consider it racist, but not sure it's something that is generally known to everyone.

    Are you really that stupid?

Oh wait, judging by your other posts, yes you are.

I'll give you an example and hope that your brain manages to comprehend....

Black friend is climbing a tree - white friend calls said black friend a chimp.

I guess I'm just confused why it's okay to put say President Bush's mug on these chimps, but God forbid someone would put Obama's mug in the same joke. Sometimes I just think the race card gets played way too often and that there is somewhat of a double-standard.

One is comparing One Ex's President's mental capabilities to a chimp
There is reason for that comparison

    ................................................................

Now Michele Obama .... are we to assume she's as dimwitted as George W Bush? Or was there ANOTHER reason for this ho' calling her a chimpanzee?

George W. Bush being "dimwitted" is a matter of opinion, NOT fact. Maybe the guy who said this about Michelle Obama thinks she's dimwitted...or maybe he just doesn't like her -- who knows. Again, I get that this is offensive to some. The only point I was making is that I don't believe that everybody sees calling someone a "chimp" as something "Racist". I know I didn't until I saw the bruhaha about it one day on RJ.

Both examples are just plain bad form.

Bad form to label former Pres. Bush this way, implying he isn't bright.

Bad form to label Mrs. Obama this way, implying a physical resemblance.

One is no worse than the other. We ought to have some respect for people even if we don't particularly care for their politics.

politics...icon_rolleyes.gif i don't remember exactly but did this thing with rice got the same reaction from libs? maybe yall remember better...

    Sunday, November 21, 2004
From Independent Women's Forum: The Independent Women’s Forum today denounced as blatantly racist several editorial cartoons featuring Dr. Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor and President Bush’s nominee for Secretary of State. These cartoons clearly draw upon centuries of deep-rooted, wicked and indefensible portrayals of black women.

"The depiction of Dr. Condoleezza Rice by Jeff Danziger, Pat Oliphant and Garry Trudeau as an ebonics speaking, big-lipped, black mammy who just loves her 'massa' is a disturbing trend in editorial cartoons," said Michelle D. Bernard, senior vice president of the Independent Women's Forum. "These cartoons take the racism of the liberals who profess respect and adoration for black Americans to a new level. It is revolting."

Danziger, Oliphant and Trudeau, whose editorial cartoons are very popular in the United States, are also renowned all over the world. (We have linked to the cartoons in an effort to allow the public to view the negative portrayal of Dr. Rice, and by analogy, all black women, as portrayed by these celebrated cartoonists.)

"The most powerful woman in the United States is young, gifted and black. Given our nation's history of race-based slavery, the ensuing civil rights movement and our continual battle against race- and sex- based discrimination, every citizen in our nation should take pride in Dr. Rice's accomplishments," said Bernard. "She is a representation of America's past and future all at once. One must ask where is the outrage of the nation's civil rights leadership, feminist organizations, and the so-called liberals who only seem to embrace black America in election years?"

It's not comparing, it's outright calling him a chimp because he looks like one.

(Although I don't deny that his mental facilities may be likened to that of a primate's)

I provided you with an example. In no way did it refer to Michelle Obama or the CEO. I find you redundant as you fail to make any point with your replies.
If you think I condone racism refer to my original post.

To give you a quick history on the racial aspects of comparing any black person as an ape/monkey/chimp: Throughout our nation's history in slavery, blacks were not treated as equals to white. They were considered less human and that was the justification for their enslavement. After slavery, racism remained and existed through Jim Crowe laws and segregation. During that time, especially in the South, whites still believed that blacks were less than human. Some still believe that today, that's why some have a problem with a black man in a position of authority. Part of all this sentiment is expressed by calling blacks as monkeys and making grunting sounds they make. It's a way of reminding blacks of their supposed place and that just because laws have changed doesn't mean they're equal to whites.

Where to begin? If anyone reads this, let this be an example of why there is sooooo much distrust amongst the races. While a large majority of responses here have been positive.
I would think on a large scale ppl of color believe that most whites feel or there only understanding of racist behavior is what has been expressed by fable. Are you living under a rock? A huge part of slavery was the ability to make those feel less than human and many of those slaves were referred to as monkeys.
Did you skip history completely thru your educational experience or just neglect to listen because it did not have a direct correlation to your life experience. You basically give a green light to this behavior and excuse the reference as extreme political correctness. I can't even take offense it's comical at it's worst and an example of how you have been able to walk thru life blinded by your privilege if any.
