You know what would be more interesting to dig up.. Whether or not they actually paid for that healthcare they got in Canada or faked being Canadian to get it for free. In other words, stealing it.
Why.. because up until only a few years ago before the advent of the newer type i.d. cards especially picture ones it was basically an honor system. Receptionists in doctors offices didn't verify cards at all. They just asked to see one and even if you didn't have one on you and said you forgot to bring it they'd not question that and let you see the doctor. Or you could just borrow one from a relative or friend or fake one.. that's how easy it was.

Oh the horrors...someone went to the nearest town to see a doctor icon_rolleyes.gif There have been many ridiculous items blown way out of proportion involving Sarah Palin but, sorry, this one takes the cake and wreaks of desperation. This is so not important.

Sheesh, any veterinarian in the US could have taken care of her and her family.

I have to give her some credit, she did use the word “IRONIC” correctly.

Please read the whole story, not just the part shown on the link. It was her family when she was younger and it is possible that the system was different back than. It was the closest care facility so what would you do?

Another Media BS story that happened to edit the story of it's full content.

Thanks to those that looked further into the TRUE story, and actually thought outside the box.

ok....which one of her stories is a true story, if any. She has more than on version of it. Or are they all correct?

It doesn't matter when she did it. The simple fact to the matter is that she/her family did use Canadian health care. It's not media b.s. It's factual. The system wasn't any different. If anything, it's worse in the U.S. now than it was then.

I'm no Palin fan but does she not have the right to seek health care anywhere she wants?

Sure she does, Ducky, but she wants to stop all of you from having the very type of care her family depended on.

True, and I have not problem with her having used the Canadian system. The issue is the characterization that she has made of the Canadian system. She's trashed the system for her own political gain, but used to get care from the system in the past.

In truth people, particularly those close to the border, fo back and forth across the border for a variety of services, and people go both ways for health care -- depending on what is going on and where it is easist to get what care and treatment they need/want. But most people who do so would acknowledge that there are good and bad things about both systems -- neither is perfect, though the Canadian one costs a lot less than ours.

Who cares if it's true, and more importantly, who cares if she did this. For one thing, the story clearly points out that this was over 35 years ago when Sarah Palin was like 8 years old. Are you kidding me? THIS qualifies as some sort if scandal???? Good grief!! What's more surprising than anyone is the length in which the media (in this case the nauseating HUFFINGTON POST) will blow up the most inane petty of facts from Sarah Palin's past to try to discredit her in any way possible. What I think they don't realize is that these silly attempts actually do more to rally people around her than turn people away because anyone with half a brain can see exactly what is going on here. So she went across the border to see a doctor -- and THIS is a big deal??? HUH?!?!?!?

Oh you just made my day!

I'd imagine any controversy here is about perspective and slant, mostly hers given her histronics over the summer about proposals for an American health care revamp.

The family didn't go across the border because it was necessarily "better" health care, they went because it was closer and more convenient...like this is some sort of awful thing?

on the competing thread, I just said:

One point about this story is that SHE made these visits as a child. It wasnt her decision to go there. Her parents took her. So one may look at the situation of going to Canada for health care (...altho it sounds more like the convenience of the nearest town, than the health care...), but I dont think one can really pin this politically on Sarah herself.

This ranks with questioning Obama's place of birth, IMHO.

The fact that there is not one, but TWO threads on this ridiculous topic speaks volumes as to how people will jump on any morsel of information that seemingly could in any way somehow discredit Sarah Palin.

This just in --- BREAKING NEWS!!! Sarah Palin's parents took her to Canada for her checkups when she was 7 years old -- FILM at 11!!! icon_rolleyes.gif
