Female Super Heroes...

    I don't think I'm the only one.

From a young age I always chose the girl players on Mortal Kombat to play with. Milena and Kitana, and to a lesser extent, Sonia.

And then came Xena. I found myself obsessed with her. I later realized that I wanted to be like her. Strong though no one expected her to be.

And don't get me started on Buffy...

Is there anyone else out there who identified with, or had an affinity for female super heroes?

    Kitana, Chun-Li, Orchid, Sueng-Mina, Alice....

Oh yeah and B.B. Hood from Darkstalkers was just brutal.

    yeah I'm guilty, too.

I loved Xena, Storm was my favorite X-men character...

I prefer female singers, too. I wonder if that's somehow related

Xena rocks. The perfect combination of action, drama and camp comedy. My favorites have been Rogue. Not the butchered version you get in the movies or the cartoons, but the full on Chris Claremont version of her. Psylocke is my hands down favorite though she was horribly mishandled by many writers. Jim Byrne's version of She Hulk was seriously one of the funniest most kick ass comics ever. Ellen Ripley isn't really a super hero, but she certainly rises to the occasion. I really fell in love with Blink during the Generation Next mini series and then Age of Apocalypse and Exiles. There is just something ultra kick ass about a girl raised by a "heroic" alternate reality version of Sabertooth who goes toe to toe in a seriously mismatched throw down with Holocaust without even batting an eye.

icon_redface.gif Guilty not even going to try and lie... I would always be the chick. And I would mostly play Dark Phoenix because everyone was afraid of her and she was super powerful, then when my friends and I would play "army" like our dads we would go out into the Jungle in Panama and camp out over night one time we did it for a week it was cool... but I was a "girl in the military" icon_rolleyes.gif wtf was I thinking.

Yes! Even her annoying habit of referring to herself in the third person was cool.

She was pretty bad ass even before she got Ninja-fied. She kicked Sabertooth's ass twice. I didn't object to the Alan Davis costume, but Mark Silvestri's armor was amazing. Jim Lee's version will always be my favorite. I would have loved to see the Lady Mandarin armor show up now and again though.

Yep, Jim Lee is one of my favorite illustrators too. I still remember that fight with Sabertooth.....awesome! The Lady Mandarin story line was quite amazing.

Love the other marvel heroines posted. I also had a thing for the Scarlet Witch and DC's Jewish lesbian heroine: Batwoman.

CREYENTE.....The Scarlet Witch was my all time favorite, totally in love with her. Love the tiara, love her with the Brotherhood with Magneto in the early days, married an android..lol, I do not like what they did to her now, made her go nuts and now she isnt even around

I hope they somehow can put her in a future Avengers movie

I really like the Wonder Woman relaunch. Aaron Lopresti draws her very well and her costume isn't a thong.

Awesome pick Rujock! The relationship with the Vision was pretty hot. I must say I am disappointed you forgot to mention her brother Quicksilver (Pietro). I love that whole sibling dynamic as well.

Is this the one you are referring to Rujock?

    mfc1.gif

Rujock saidyour cover above is one of my favorite covers of all time. I loved that storyline. All those storylines with Pietro, he was so protective of her. You are right, a great dynamic between the two. Ill have to post my absolute fave cover..its a bunch of ants crawling all over the Avengers with the Scarlet Witch right in front center

I have the Marvel Super Heroes tv show from the late 60s and always watch the ones with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the Avengers in the Capt America ones.
