HOLY SMOKES!

The Devil Made Them Do It!

So all the problems of the Vatican of recent were caused by none other than Beelzebub, Satan! Where is the church lady when you need her?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/11/vatican_exorcist/The Catholic Church's top exorcist has warned that Satan is alive and well and causing a whole load of problems at the Holy See.
    ......
According to The Times, Amorth blames "cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon".

"When one speaks of 'the smoke of Satan' [a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972] in the holy rooms, it is all true – including these latest stories of violence and paedophilia," he said.

Amorth is probably better qualified than most when it comes to dealing with Satan and the lesser demons. He has apparently dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession*. He was instrumental in ensuring that the traditional exorcism ritual was retained, despite the Vatican's minting of a new "improved" ritual, which Amorth condemned as a "blunt sword".

Apparently the exorcist Amorth prefers the "Holy Hand Grenade" over a few splashes of holy water.

What do you think? Devil made them do it? What is the cause of all the evil in the world icon_question.gif

I'm not sure about Satan in the Vatican, but that video was pretty crazy. I love when they push him over and the lady beats his face with her purse.

It is also apparent the devil made them make up excuses and not take accountability for their own actions.

I find it funny that of you look, the devil under the mask is white. Secondly, this is the stuff that has plagued the Papacy for centuries. I just hope there isnt an anti-pope in Avignon again lol.

    Who is surprised by this?

The Catholic church is one of the most corrupt organization there is.

I wonder what that gay prostitution ring is all about. I can't wait to hear the details.

I wonder how much longer this Amorth guy has to live. If memory serves- the C church is not opposed to bumping off people who don't toe the line. Didn't they kill one of the John Pauls as well as one of their private bankers?

A total mess that organization is!!

Indeed. And the crazy part is that the clergy isn't necessarily involved, rather a lay person (no pun intended) who utilized his position in one of the adult choirs.

Satan has the power to deceive like that, ya know.

Why do I feel the world is becoming a Monty Python movie, where everything is happening back in the Middle Ages? Except I fail to see the laughs here.

Fair enough. I should have been more clear in my point. The clergy wasn't involved in this scandal.

The article is not just addressing the prostitution scandal which pales in comparison to other scandals .. I underlined the stuff in question. But really it is about blaming the Vatican's problems on the devil ..

I realize that (it's just that the prostitution scandal is so topical right now...and I did have a little giggle when I read the prostitution article because it reminded me of the sacred prostitution that would take place in ancient Greece).

It is horrendous that people would use their positions of power in such a way that it breaches the trust given to that position for the purpose of harming others. I don't know of the Devil was actively participating (not sharing in Amorth's direct line with the principality, I don't know), but I do know that Lord Acton's adage tends to hold true
Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely
At the same time, though, I believe that people tend to be good. I know (not in the carnal sense) lots of clergy, particularly in the Catholic church (including one Cardinal) who are genuinely good people and who haven't hurt others nor have used their positions in any way that would even bring the whisper of impropriety. Unfortunately, those kinds of people don't bring many readers/viewers.

Yet another example of how the few can tarnish the many.

Furthermore, as an aside upon which I believe all of us can agree, crimes against children are inexcusable.
