We used to use them pre-AIDS. But then there was suspicion that they were the cause, so they quickly fell out of use. And then I think the original chemical was banned and the subsitute wasnt as good. The original poppers certainly made an orgasm vastly more potent and lengthy, if the rush hit at just the right time. But then a normal orgasm became pale in comparison and you always wanted that punch.

I have never used them, don't plan to, and wouldn't date a guy who does.

However I did hook up with one guy who did use them. Though I didn't know until we were in the middle of having sex. The second time we hooked up he didn't use any and he remarked how great it was even without the poppers. And I thought to myself, well duh.

Perhaps I'm too sensitive, but I think it's kind of insulting. The sex ought to be stimulating enough.

When I say to a guy "lets do it".....and he says, "you mind if I use poppers"?

It's like he is saying "Dang I need something to help me get through this miserable ordeal."

    Deal breaker.

Are they still making that stuff out of Butyl nitrate?

Blood pressure plunge and a whack to the immune system, all in 10 seconds at dizzying speed. So, no.

Used to be sold in brown bottles mainly at record stores or "head" shops under the name "Rush" or "Lockerroom" or "Bolt". Was popular in the 1980s. Tried it. Made me dizzy. You can do the same thing with hyperventilating, I would imagine. Nowadays, I can't afford to lose any more brain cells...

I've used poppers before, for fun and when I need a little bit of extra help. Never thought that they would be a deal breaker though.

Yes, they are a deal breaker... I won't work with you to help get over a drug addiction if you are still using 'em.

LOL!!!icon_biggrin.gif

You can most definitely get addicted to poppers, just like any other drug. Not everyone that uses poppers are addicted to them however. But hey, why not live life clean and enjoy real life.

Other than that, it is not a deal breaker for me, but then again I never dated anyone that used poppers. I do know one person who uses poppers because it makes it easier for him to bottom for his bf. It doesn't make him a horrible person or addicted.

There's always the possibility of psychological addiction but you can get psychologically addicted to any on this green Earth. I was thinking more about physical addiction, seeing how alkyl nitrites work I don't see how that can develop.

I don't use them (haven't tried them either) and it is kind of a mood disruptor when a guy fucking you suddenly has to take a whiff from a bottle, maybe even taking a quick break from the sex itself. My experience hasn't put them into my deal-breaker territory (yet), so, no, they're not a deal-breaker for me.

Can't poppers be extremely dangerous, especially if a person has heart issues? It would be a deal breaker for me. I'm a drug free zone.
