Wanna hear her do something kinda good?

Yeah she was once normal, before she got attention, now she has to act up like an unruly child.

I wasn't a fan at first but she grew on me like moss. I actually think she's really smart and talented and, if you get beyond the obvious in her music, it's quite subversive.

I don't really think Lady Gaga is too weird. I don't like her because, like a lot of music today, I find her music kind of boring. At 43, I've reached the age where I should be saying about the music of a younger generation, "What is that noise?" Much of today's new music is failing to do what it has done for generations now- shocking us that are a getting older. It all kind of makes me yawn. Annabella Lwin (Bow Wow Wow), Dale Bozzio (Missing Persons), and Nina Hagen were from your parents generation, so Lady Gaga is not that odd. I think it is time for young musicians to get to the job of making ground breaking music that makes parents scream, "Would you turn that shit down!"

I'm totally with you on this one. When she released her first album, I wasn't a huge fan. Since then, though, she's really grown on me. I really like some of her new stuff.

Of course, being the music snob I am, I would never admit this to anyone icon_wink.gif

Those of you who don't like her... Do you like David Bowie? Prince? Madonna?

Saying you don't like Lady Gaga on this site is like the revelation of saying your gay, or that you like guys. It really is getting tedious. You don't like Lady Gaga, I get it, I got it on the last ten posts about how someone doesn't like Lady Gaga.

Please don't tell me you are implying that Lady Gaga is somehow analogous to David Bowie or Prince.

As a fan of both I most certainly am. The similarities are glaringly evident.

Most people are just not willing to see it, or are saying she's copying them... which is whatever, but whether it's imitation or inspiration she is most certainly very similar.

i think she's good to have because she's proving something somewhat good. She actually makes efforts to show herself rather than be a recluse like some of the other singers out there. Not to mention she also sends a decently positive message. Granted if i had a daughter and she started dressing like lady gaga, id be cursing up somewhat of a storm when she left for school, but its better than her grabbing the skimpiest whore outfit she can find and set out.

And her lyrics dont promote as much alcoholism as others do in my opinion. You never really hear any of her lyrics being based on sex and drugs and that crazy shit.

I like Lady Gaga. To appreciate what she does, not necessarily her music or dance, is to appreciate courage and inner strength.

It's like my friends at ajaxx63. I wouldn't wear their line of clothes because I don't really identify with it, but I appreciate what they do for the gay community.

OMG, your gonna go to hell. LOL

... But seriously, icon represent life and in some cases it's excess. My spin is that when at every turn you are told you are a kind of cancer to society you tend to gravitate towards things which prove those beliefs wrong. Like African American , gays seem to have an important role in defining our culture.

Lol, and Prince was copying Little Richard, etc, etc, etc....

Bernard: "One of the criticisms of Bowie was he was trying on too many things - was he chameleon or a copy cat. But he was always willing to admit he was influenced by many people and wrote songs about them."

on the note of icons I like the james dean gay icon image, and on the music note I like anything that is/was original e.g. grunge, heavy metal, Queen and bowie arent like Gaga Btw

I will admit I did find her music catchy at first, but like all modern day musicians she seems more interested in fame and attention than being talented.

I have to admit that I am guilty of being a music snob and I often have to fight that urge to reject a band I like if they happen to hit the charts or start getting radio play.

i watched some insipid interview with her on YT the other night.
But her replies were even worse than the questions. And always hiding behind her sunglasses and behaving like she was on coke or something.

pfft, nothing but a puff of air that will vanish when the new best thing comes around.

Far too late for just being a "puff of air" since she already has 6 number one hits.

I've seen Blondie(Debbie Harry), which is one of my favorites of all time, make a fool of herself in interviews back in the 70's......she survived.

First off, let me explain her appeal in short words; Exotically unique
She, herself, has not created her appeal, the people behind her have. She is merely the face or puppet of the idea of different.
So before you attack or criticize her appeal and performance, consider the the puppet master.

Madonna is the Queen of pop, and shall pass by as a legend.

I do respect your opinion on the subject

Lady Gaga is the slime-covered, sick, slithering alien that burst from Madonna's gut, then proceeded to feed on the carcass.
