What's your first opinion of a GoGo dancer about his life/personality?

    Shirtless Guys at Clubs?

A lot of my friends are quick to judge them as insecure kids who need to be shown they're attractive by doing one of these two...what do you think?

my first opinion of a gogo dancer at a club is that he's getting paid to enjoy himself and good for him

Many moons ago a well known gay promoter in Manhattan asked me whether I'd like to be one of his go go boys. I laughed and told him it was the best compliment I got since getting into law school. Now I'm a lot less judgemental; in retrospect it would have really helped to pay down my student loans.

As an ex-go-go dancer, sounds like your friends are the one with the insecurity. The vast majority of dancers are straight and thus are not doing it to show off their body to other men. It's a job. It pays well if you're in the right place and right time. I met some of the nicest people and traveled all over the US while I danced, averaging at least fifty dollars an hour, but the only reason I made that much was because I knew it was a job and you'd be surprised how hard those guys up there work to make a living. Many guys are just trying to put themselves through school or pay their rent, so if your friends feel the need to judge a guy for doing that, it seems that they're a bit insecure and since they don't have the body those dancers do they're taking that frustration out in any demeaning way possible.

Most all of the gogo boys that I have seen are thin, skinny boys. I personally would rather see a muscled hunk dancing in his skimps instead of a twink, so that's the only judgement I've ever made of them. I give them full respect for being that comfortable with themselves. Can't say I have the guts to do it myself. It's crossed my mind though.

Taking my shirt off at the club? Well, yeah. I do it a lot. I don't do it for attention or for the "insecurity" factor. I do it because I'm dancing and it is fucking hot up in the club! Haha.

I didn't know you were a go-go dancer. And yes most people do it for the reasons he said. If I had a better body I'd think about doing it if I can't find a job when I finish school in 2 months.

I did it so I was a GoGo dancer to:

    A) "Get paid" to dance instead of "pay" to dance
    B) Dance up high away from the crowd on a platform
    C) Rest in between dance sets in a private room away from the general public

I love, love, love GoGo dancing... icon_smile.gif

Why would you assume that they can't do both? I think it's more likely that a lot of these guys are using the income to pay their bills while they're students than that they're dancing instead of being students.

Excuse me. First, I graduated valedictorian of a top 25 university. Did you? I earned a double bachelors and graduated summa cum laude, phi beta kappa, and several other awards. Did you have that distinction too? I earned a paid-in-full, four-year scholarship to any university of my choosing. Did you get that offer as well? I'm also 23, finishing off my masters, and now teach at a university. Did you not get it the first time?

Second, for all the schooling you have, you failed to spell the word "your" correctly. Plus, grammatically speaking, your sentence reads that people should use their brains for money and not use their brains for body. So you go tell your parents that for all your great schooling a go-go dancer is outsmarting and outperforming you.

There are many other things you can do besides being a dancer like that icon_razz.gif

I just dont see how it furthers your career or life in anyway unless you wanna be a stripper and eventually a porn star

I just don't understand the appeal of it?? Who just decides they wanna be a gogo dancer?

Awards awards blah blah, it's all just fancy stuff to cover up your lack of common sense. I don't need be summa cum laude and shit just to know what is good and bad and what I like and don't like. I certainly am not gonna do do something that could catch up to me later in my professional life.

Yes I wrote ur, so what? I was just typing fast I don't always have to say your. Learn to understand different writing.

"like that"? why you gotta go on and be "like that"?

My career doesn't care what I do in my free time, I also rock climb, run marathons, race in triathlons, model, act, get drunk, have sex... my career stands on it's own legs, I don't need to prop it up with personal life.

I did... and I liked it!!
