Uh, really Sean? As they say on Will & Grace, "My dog even knew you were gay".

Sean Hayes finally comes out in the new issue of The Advocate. Sean's attitude about the gay community? Sean Hayes - "What more do you want me to do? Do you want me to stand on a float? And then what? It's never enough."

We really don't phucking care if you're gay or not Sean, and honestly I don't want to admit I have anything in common with you, but for phucking chrissmus sakes try to be true and honest about yourself. You are a successful actor, you played a gay man on a prime time sit-com for 8 years, and you still couldn't come to terms with who or what you are? I hate the term f@g, but MFG you are one silly little f@g.

There are tons of celebrities that come out later in life after their success. Some high profile folks never come out, which is fine, it's not like they owe anyone an explanation.

But they didn't play a gay man on prime time tv for eight years. Then, after that, have a hissy fit about feeling "pressured" into coming out by the gay community. I think it is the epitome of being a hypocrite. You would think he would have come to terms with his sexually, oh, about 12 years ago when he accepted a gay role on a prime time television show.

Do you have intimate knowledge of his life that you aren't sharing that allows you to come to this conclusion? do you know how he was brought up? what his thinking was/is?

Why should others be allowed to take there time but not him? he was doing the job he loved to do, he entertained millions, that's what he wanted to do, but it was stil a job.

Well hey if it's just a job why is he coming out now if it's taken him 12 years of struggle to accept it? At this point who the hell cares. Is it because he can't find an acting job? He is blaming the gay community for pressuring him to come out......so it's not even a good comming-out story.

It's unfortunate that the gay creators, directors, and producers of Will & Grace had to find a closet case that would lash back at the gay community, which in fact, were big supporters of his acting endeavors.

You still don't get it. Even in my original post it states I "don't care if your straight or gay". The issue is that he is blaming the gay community for having to talk about being gay. He is not saying "to my adoring gay fans, thank you for your support and encouragement", he is literally stating "what more do you want me to do?" like the gay community is such a burden to him. Um, his bosses on the show were gay, they are the ones that hired him. Also many, or perhaps, most of his fans are gay.

Maybe a lot of folks in the industry were getting pretty sick of him trying to play both sides of the fence. At some point in your life, there are times when you need to stand up and be counted. Luckily for Sean, he is coming out right about the time when the broadway play he is in will opening....wow....what a coincidence.

And someone pointed out on another site.....he doesn't even come out and say "I am gay" in the article........ugh!

Yes, and? he's angry, whether he feels forced by himself, by others, by god himself or what ever, he's not happy.. many gay men go through the same thing as they are coming out and learning to accept them self and there "new life" regardless of how long he's been in the closet..

and really, the guy has been asked so much about his sexuality, wouldn't you get sick of it too?

Can't believe I'm agreeing with "The Tank" but I am.

berate him for doing it in his own time.??.

Yeah, unfortunately, people always have a lot to say about how other people lead their lives.

I YouTubed an interview from early in the course of the show when he said he didn't want to disclose his orientation because, as an actor, he should be free to play any role -- gay or straight.

So maybe at some point, before Sean became inextricably linked to Jack's character, he thought it would make some difference in his career. So, I understand the reason he initially fought being outed publicly.

There's also the issue -- which I wholeheartedly agree with -- that he's entitled to privacy. Celebrities know that they will always be followed always followed by prying eyes. But he should be able to keep personal anything that he wants. And we really can't judge him for that.

I doubt that he was closeted in his personal life all this time. But his sexuality is just something he chose not to share with perfect strangers like you and me.

Who say's he is struggling with anything. Some people don't feel the need to wave a flag about their sexuality. Did Sean Hayes really need to anyway?

    Sean Hayes can't "come out"
    The painfully obvious doesn't count.
    He oozes gay.

This is about as exciting as Bill Gates getting a new computer.

He's gay! NO way. I never would've thought that in a million years. LOL.

Seriously though kudos to him for walking through that door even if it is at a late age. I'd invite him over to a party.

Specifically, as a fan and follower of Sean Hayes and his work, I am deeply disappointed by his chagrin about being gay. As others have mentioned, I have incorrectly assumed all these years that he was an out and proud member of the gay community. He is anything but.

Succinctly, as a member of the gay community, I am offended by his obvious disdain for the gay community, the same community that has been a big part of his fan base and success.

I didn't think he was "in the closet" or lashing out at the gay community as much, as shying away from the pressures of being a role model.

Everybody cares, he wanted to get his career on track without premature derailment . So many of you act like bigotry don't exist. Well you chucky type fuckers it does exist and you gotta do what you gotta do. Why does every actor need to represent a cause.

Kinda irrelevant, I'm guilty of free-associating (again), but I have a story where you might say that me and Sean Hayes "met cute"...

About 5 years ago my cousin's wife and adorable blonde pigtailed 9 year old daughter visited Manhattan, staying at a Times Square hotel. Knowing that "mom" was a vegetarian, after they spent a long day doing traditional sightseeing I took them out to a late dinner to the best vegan restaurant in town with an eight course tasting menu. Problem was, the daughter wasn't vegan and wouldn't eat a thing through the whole dinner. To make it up to her I told her we'd go to Magnolia Bakery in the West Village where she'd have the best cake in her entire life for dinner since it would be open at midnight, but what I didn't count on was the queue of black-clad trendies winding 'round the block when we got there. No way was I going to let that hungry tired little girl wait an hour in line at midnight on a blustery winter night, so I told them I'd find a place on the way back up 8th Avenue to their hotel. Panicking, I realized nothing was probably open except in Chelsea so I asked the mom if she'd mind if I took her kid to a gay restaurant - Food Bar, which was also famous for its desserts. She said no problem, so I parked right outside and we blew in past midnight looking for all the world like a lost family of tourists from the midwest - it's amazing the other patrons, who must've thought they'd seen everything until then, didn't call Child Protective Services! Just when I thought the venue couldn't have gotten gayer for a 9 year old, I noticed a subdued Messr. Hayes sitting at the table with friends near the entrance. Imagine the odds! Apparently when the kid got home and was asked to tell her class about her trip to New York the part she remembered most was me taking her to a gay food bar where she ordered the Gay Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich and saw "Just Jack!" from "Will & Grace." To this day she credits me for giving her serious cred.

He never denied being gay. I just never said he was. He didn't come out before because he wanted to be able to play both straight and gay roles without judgement... and guess what, it seems you are already judging him icon_cry.gif
