slimming down Muscular thighs???

    so i have pretty thick muscular thighs there not really that bothersome to me, i just want them to be slimmer.... i play collegiate volleyball so we do alot of drills that involves alot of explosive running so i guess thats one of the factors to having them so thick lol, granted im also 5'10" if thats considered short lol.... anyways, anyone got suggestions on how i might get to a slimmer pair?.....

    one of our trainers suggested that i do long distance running instead of our usual fast explosive running drills.

    Being muscular is the usual outcome of being athletic, with adequate calories. To try to defeat that would be counter productive to being a Real Jock.

    Yeah.. I can understand and relate to you.

    I have muscular legs, and large calves. Maybe from carrying around my large frame for so many years.

    It's quite difficult to get decent fitting jeans. The legs at the bottom are tight around the calves. Just wished they were a bit slimmer so my pants could ride up when I sit down , and then return to normal without me having to 'pull' them back down.

    Take the trainers advice and see how it goes. Thicker legs may just be they way you are built.

    I can sympathize. I bike, play squash and soccer regularly, all of which have built up strong/big legs that are natural anyway as a result of my gene pool (dad was a gymnast and soccer player). All this on a lean/muscular 5'10" frame, so I probably seem a little out of proportion. I tried the long distance running idea, but just didn't enjoy it. I should probably try yoga, as one of the posters suggested. In any case, I've decided to be comfortable with what I naturally develop with the sports I love. I don't get a lot of complaints, and I'm sure you won't either! Good luck with your program.

    OMG EXACTLY.... ppl tell me all the time i have soccer player calves... right on the money about finding a decent pair of jeans...

    I have always had really large legs... and it sucks when you outgrow your favorite genes even though your waist hasn't put on any inches. Try reducing the amount of time you walk, stand, etc... you might also want to do cardio that doesn't involve legs, like the spinner thingy (cybex?) for your hands.

    I've lowered my protein intake a bit and have increased the fiber levels in my diet. I've seen some leaning out in my thighs and tightening in my hips, quads., and buttocks ... I've taken up swimming again as well ... it can be done ... but ever so slowly.

    my legs are HUGE! sometimes i dont like it, but not going to lie...it makes most of the guys Ive been with go crazy...

    i would say stetch alot and do some distance running if u want them to slim down some

    My legs have always been really big as well. I've never had to do much to make them big, they always have been.

    It's mixed blessing. To me, big, muscular legs on a guy is HOT. But, it's also hard to find jeans, slacks, and swimwear that fit correctly. Meh, I'd rather have to deal with that problem than have twig legs.

    Just accept it and be thankful.

    From what I'm reading it seems that the only or main reason you want slimmer thighs is because you're having a hard time fitting into pants. If that's the case, wouldn't it be a lot easier just to look for better cut pants? There are lots of threads on RJ about the best jeans and pants that fit athletic frames. If the real reason is because you want to adopt a lean leggy rock star look, remember - you're not 6'1" so the odds of that happening are about as great as your odds of being a 5'10" runway model. I'd embrace the gifts god gave you.

    There's no way to get your legs smaller unless you starve yourself, which, of course, will take its toll on your game play.

    if you are genetically suppose to have big thighs, your going to have bigger then average thighs, if you are genetically suppose to have thin thighs, then, your going to have thin thighs.

    while you'll be able to force your thighs to be something else to some extent, your sorta stuck with what you've got.

    I feel your pain though, my thighs are just massive, they always have been, I'm now at the point where I have to go up two sizes to fit my legs into jeans which is frustrating and really makes me hate shopping.

    Thankfully I can fit into the shorts I like... Kinda.. my arse causes me no ends of problems though, I just have no clothing luck icon_sad.gif

    I love my legs, they too are thicker than average.. granted I have to wear jeans with large waist sizes...
    I also can't wear underwear.. because it crushes my manhood due to large thighs. FML
