I ran my first hash last weekend. It was awsome. First off...a hash is like a treasure hunt run/walk with drinking involved. It was all in all about 4 miles a few shots and a few beers long. You look for signs on the side walk made in chalk and have at it. It was alot of fun. I really recommend it to those of you that haven't tried. They are in every bigger city around from what i am told. Keeps you fit and gets you drunk...gotta love it. if you are interested let me know your city and i will get your citys website for it.

I 've done it a few times with the STL group, but I always ended up entirely too drunk for my own good. For me, I could envision catastrophic injury. I'm one of those people that has a tough time only having one or two drinks, therefore I rarely drink, especially while running. It was a good time, though.

Interesting article in the local 'alternative' chain newspaper.

Sure, Hash House Harriers. It is great fun. I used to do it all the time when I moved to Singapore. It was a great way to meet people and have some fun. You even get givien nick names and often forced to drink. Can make the next day at work a bit tough!

Nice thing is there are hashing groups all over the world. just look on line and you are good to go

    On on . . . .

There was a Hash group in Mali, West Africa. I ran with them a few times. Interesting routes for sure!

I would have guessed it was a prerequisite to rehashing....

anyways... we don't do that here but we do have a campus wide pub crawl kind of thing. Always a good time.

Treasure hunting, drinking??? Did you know I want to be a pirate? This sounds PERFECT. Where in Milwaukee can I do this?

Hashes, and hash groups are everywhere, several here in Dubai. They are all basically the same - either a way to get drunk and convince yourself you are out for a run OR a way to go out for a run and get drunk - depends on your point of view icon_biggrin.gif

that is the list of all the hashing groups on Hashspace. Hope you find one near you. The search goes off the names and the name of your city really usually isn't in the hash group name lol

Reminds me of the Bordeaux France marathon, many many wine stops along the route.

That sounds like it could be pretty fun. Once my broken foot heals up, I might check that out.
