Every time finals or midterms roll around, I find myself in the same place. Maybe I'm the only person with this problem, but if I'm not, how do you deal with it?

I go more in the direction of stress not-eating. During those times, I try to institute a food schedule instead of relying on my instincts.

    Boredom:
I want to eat and solve it with gum. If I should actually be eating at that time, I pick a food with high "entertainment value" -- anything healthy and bite-size or crunchy. By the time I'm done with my meal I'm not bored anymore and I haven't slammed down a bag of chips or a bunch of soda.

    Stress/not having time:
I have food stashed EVERYWHERE. In all my backpacks and bags, in the pockets of every coat, in the glovebox, in my gym locker. Usually it's a serving of nuts, beef jerky, or a SoLo nutrition bar. All of them are easy to much on the go.

I actually found things worked really well for me when I was doing a lot of overtime. It simply meant there wasn't time to go shopping for snacks and I could only eat the stuff I had brought for dinner.

Otherwise it's really difficult. It's so easy to just eat junk and snacks. icon_evil.gif
