I'm in Chicago for a conference in mid April and I've never previously made much effort to engage Chicago from the dining angle. Thus, I've started browsing the various dining and restaurant review websites for places in Chicago, gathering lots of useful info.

However, I'd like some personal perspectives.

So whether you live in Chicago and have a favorite place you recommend or you visited and found someplace amazing, I'd like you to share. I'm not looking for links to reviews, etc. I work in libraries; I can do research. I want your PERSONAL recommendations for dining in Chicago.

    Thanks.

Best dinner spots: Frontera Grill or Mexique (for mexican/american) and Table-Fifty-two or Kith and Kin (for sourthern, comfort food)

Best post-dinner drinks: Signature Room (95th Floor) or Nacional 27

I've been to Chicago quite a few times and never been to any of those places! Hm... I may have to go there this week icon_smile.gif

Definitely go to the Signature Room's bathroom. The building is so tall the water in the toilets moves back and forth because the top of the building is actually swaying slightly.

Thanks. This will be a good start for my research. I've head of Signature Room and Blackbird. Never heard or seen mention of The Violet Hour.

I had two memorable meals during Market Days last year: Lunch at the Art Institute http://www.terzopianochicago.com/ and dinner at MK http://mkchicago.com/index.swf

Badmikeyt and GuerrillaSodomite took me to Wilde (after Oscar) and it was wonderful! Not an empty seat in the place... and with good reason. icon_smile.gif
