If someone is taking up a collection to hire a mafia guy to kill her, I'm in the pool.

she is a bit of a one trick pony.
It's hard having any genuine emotion for someone that desperate for attention.
it must be difficult to look in the mirror and realize you are cashing checks to be the mouthpiece for the lowest common denominator.

She just says these things to draw attention to her act. This is how she keeps herself employed. That letter just gave her new material to incorporate into her act.

As maddening as she is, she is only a media personality. It frightens me that people actually elect into office dumb asses like this, South Carolina Lt Gov Andre Bauer or Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann for example, despite the fact they say things just as insane.

I'm glad she's around actually. There is no better concrete example of how Stupid doesn't always look as you'd expect. She embodies a lot of what's wrong with this country and the consistent blatant lying of conservative icons. I just hope that for her sake she is doing it for money and popularity and that she isn't truly as delusional and bigoted as she seems.

I remember when I worked at Indigo (the big Canadian Barnes & Noble), I was perusing my section (History and Political Science) when someone came up to me asking where they could find the new Ann Coulter book.

I paused, "You're kidding me, right?"

"No, I really like her. I was told it was somewhere in this section."

I take a deep breath, "It should be in the fantasy section. I'm sorry, I can't help you."

So I made someone else help, because I was so confounded that there were yes, even stupid Canadians, who thought that Ann Coulter had something worthwhile to say. I would have no part in helping promote or espouse her inflammatory and derogatory hate propaganda.

From then on, I always took it upon myself to hide the Ann Coulter books behind worthwhile books, in the hopes that someone looking for hate and ignorance, instead finds love and knowledge.

    Did it work?

Well, not when the managers would come and rearrange my "rearrangements", and then they moved me down to the cash register where I would be "more productive." Bastards. Good thing I quit.

For someone who is bashing Coulter on hate, it sure seems you have a lot towards her. You demean people who like her, call them stupid, and let your agenda disrupt your employers its customers. It's okay, that's not hypocritical as long as you think your right, right?

Have you ever read her books? Maybe you should before you criticize them so much.

    These comments...
    "hire mafia to kill her"
"maybe throw a blunt heavy object"
    "allusion to rape"
"comparing to Hilter to some extent"

This is all examples of hate and violence in a short thread towards one person. Why is it "okay" for you guys to express this but will then call her hateful?

I'm glad she came to Canada, because she's learning something very important.

Here we have freedom of speech, with one sound exception:
    Hate speech.

You can express yourself in whatever fashion you see fit, so long as you aren't a racist or a bigot while you do it. I know the U.S. will never infringe on that right, and although the constitution is a document that is made malleable by design, the First Amendment is not something that I could ever see being changed.

But here in Canada, this limit has only led to a more sensible and rational debate on many issues, and it has not allowed the likes of Ann Coulter, the Ku Klux Klan, Nazis, the Westboro Baptist Church, or other extremists, to push a hate-filled agenda into the public view.

What purpose does that serve other than to frustrate and alienate others? A perfect illustration of this consequence; I just read in The Globe and Mail that her speech at the University of Ottawa tonight was canceled due to security concerns from 2,000 agitated protesters on campus.

It's not about limiting speech, and it's not just about trying to protect minorities. It's about forcing people to contribute to the conversation by debating and defending your views in a meaningful and sensible way.
