While Cantor was making this announcement, FOX News was reporting on the threats against him and another Republican:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/25/rep-cantors-richmond-campaign-office-shot-overnight/

Republican Rep. Eric Cantor said Thursday that his Richmond campaign office has been shot at and that he's received "threatening e-mails" -- but at the same time accused top Democrats of trying to exploit the threats they've been receiving for "political gain."
Republican Rep. Eric Cantor said Thursday that his Richmond campaign office has been shot at and that he's received "threatening e-mails" -- but at the same time accused top Democrats of trying to exploit the threats they've been receiving for "political gain."
Cantor said "a bullet was shot through the window" of his campaign office. The incident happened Monday, Fox News has learned, the latest in a rash of apparent threats and acts of intimidation against members of Congress. Most of the threats so far have been reported by Democrats, but Cantor -- the No. 2 Republican in the House -- is one of about 10 lawmakers who has asked for increased security protection, Fox News has learned.
But in brief and pointed remarks, Cantor said he would not be releasing any information about the other threats he's received, as some lawmakers have done, out of concern that it would "encourage more to be sent."
And he admonished his colleagues -- specifically Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine -- for "dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting these incidents be used as a political weapon."
"Any suggestion that a leader in this body would incite threats or acts against other members, is akin to saying that I would endanger myself, my wife or my children," Cantor said. "It is reckless to use these incidents as media vehicles for political gain."
As House Republican whip, Cantor is the highest elected Jewish politician in the country.
The Department of Homeland Security is involved in the Cantor case because he is a member of the House leadership. U.S. Capitol Police already provide Cantor with a security detail around the clock because of his leadership position, but he has asked for more security.
Fox News has also obtained a threatening message left Friday on the voicemail of Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio.

Isn't it funny that Cantor accuses Democratic Party leaders of exploiting these attacks and accuses the media of "fanning the flames", but yet, let's FOX News "fan the flames" of two attacks/threats on Republicans?

Isn't it odd that there still has been no public rebuke of Glenn Beck's paranoid-filled program?

And McCain still refuses to denounce Palin's rhetoric that could plausibly fuel the flames:

Cantor is using the same Republican tactic that we have seen employed here by pro-Republicans RJ members:

"The Democrats do the same thing as Republicans do, so they can't object."

How many times have we seen that said here? And yet, national Republicans, after Democrat lawmakers were not only threatened, but actual violent attempts made against them, have replied that "Democrats have done the same thing against us."

I hardly think so. Spat on you? Called you ni**ers and fags? Tried to gas their houses? Stood & applauded when a disrupter in the House Gallery shouted words that are forbidden by House Rules?

This does get old after a while, but it plays well to the Republican faithful (aka so-called "Independents") on RJ. I think we're more than a little overdue for a reality check here, wouldn't you agree?

i'm not sure weather you are trying to start a debate or start an arguement, but did you ever think that some of the things he says could be true? its not like every thing you hear from the left leaning ed show, keith oberman, or rochelle maddow is truth.

i wish you could be so critical of some of the crap that the democratic party throws out there for fodder.....oh maybe because you ARE a democrat

If you're referring to my post, I can be very critical of Democrats, in the appropriate context. I am gay after all; you don't think I can't bitch about anybody? icon_wink.gif

When you write "some of the things he says" are you talking about Cantor in Congress? (You really do need to be more precise) Cantor is a total Republican partisan, that is his job. I see no reason to cut him any slack, as I would do for RJ members posting here.

Cantor's job in the Republican Congressional leadership is to attack Democrats; I can't see why he would be a credible source for anything he says, if that was the person to whom you were referring. (It would help so much if you could be the least bit clear)

What happened at Cantor's office conveniently happened after the incidents at Dems offices. I say Cantor is full of shit and it never happened at all.

I honestly think this is all a Republican plant to deflect some the negative media exposure back on the Dems. I think they're that effing crazy (especially Cantor).

    Concur. This was staged.

"[Cantor] said that a bullet was fired through the window of his office in Richmond, Va., but declined to provide additional details." (MSNBC news report)

More details would be reassuring. Amazing how these bullets suddenly appeared when Democrats were being physically assaulted by Republican supporters. Do tell us more, Representative Cantor.

Don't you see how foolish too many of you closeted homos are? Trying so hard not to look like a homo, you stump for those who hold you down. Nah, of course you don't see it. The GOP comes with wrap around blinders.
