IMO, both. Before I hit the gym at 10am, I have a ~700 calorie breakfast at 7am and a protein shake at 9am. I then have a protein shake immediately after my workout and a light lunch an hour or two after that.

Before for fuel, and after for recovery.
You basically have to eat 24/7.

I read somewhere you're supposed to eat every two to three hours, with your largest meal being after a workout.

Do both. You need at least five good meals per day.

If you eat before you work out, your body concentrates on digesting the food.
I have always eaten after my workouts.

They say ...eat for what your about to do. Like the swimmer who can eat a pizza and swim for miles. I think maybe eat at least an hour before strenuous working out. Today, I went Jogging...and then I had food after as in a 45 gram high protein drink. Now, I am starving!!

So Just eat well and good foods and you will be ok!

Your attempt at being mignon was a bit more cockeyed than coquette.
