I'm antsy but tired on my off-days. What can I do?

I work hard at the gym and am truly exhausted on my off days, yet I'm so antsy to still be active those days. I think it would be counterproductive to go into the gym because I need the recovery time. Usually I go to the pool for a relaxing, non-strenuous swim. What should I do if I don't go to the pool? Should I just hit the gym like I want to? Are there other activities that would be more beneficial, helping me to recover, but still taking care of my antsy-ness? Should I ignore my exhaustion to satisfy my antsy-ness, or should I pay more attention to my exhaustion and allow myself to rest?

just because you go to the gym doesn't mean you need to completely slog your self stupid.. if you want to go but need recover, workout lightly, it can actually help recovering because it promotes blood flow (among other things)

Otherwise enjoy a relaxing day that keeps you active and moving, swimming, light jog, long walk, what ever and eat lots *nods*

You might want to watch out. That might actually be caused by hypertension which can be cause by high cholesterol and even if you do go to the gym on a regular basis, you might still have high blood pressure. might want to get checked.

I had all my heart tests recently, so it shouldn't be a problem. I do get anxiety though, which could temporarily raise my blood pressure, but it's exercise that helps with that.

Active rest. Do a very light, different, enjoyable workout.

But top athletes also rest well: proper rest is part of being a good athlete. As we use to say on the team, to be a champion, treat yourself like a champion.
