Hey guys I have just joined this site and have been browsing around. I have seen many people say that running tights have great benigits but no one really mentions what they are. I've been running now for some time. I'm just curious on what the benigits of running tights are. Also are they hot or not?

If you're talking compression clothing, there are supposed to be a few benefits. Instead of rewriting them here, check this site:

I had a coach tell me that he never wanted to see the skin of our legs when we warmed up. Rule #1 legs must be covered during warm ups.

After warm ups he didn't care what you wore.

I always wore tights and still do because: they followed rule #1.

Tights also keep your legs warm so the muscle is less prone to tearing/injury. They add compression to help maintain contraction of muscle. They assist in recovery of muscle. Tights wick moisture away from skin. Since they are tight to the skin they reduce friction so that thighs won't rub together causing burns or blister. And they look hot on a guy. I always wear them unless the temperature gets above mid 60s.

Most professional wear tights too; even if it's to the knees. So I choose tights for the added benefits.

i never noticed "real" benefits from tights...
any hindrance to motion is energy sapping ultimately.

but in the cold they are a blessing .
the best compression tights are CW-X as far as i know.
but they really do compress. At first they feel weird.
i've had a pair and the fit is extremely snug as some panels are non stretchable, supposedly alleviating fatigue .
mm, perhpas.. always difficult to separate the truth from the hype.

but over all i like them.

In cool weather, Underarmour Coldgear keeps you warm (usually not an issue in South FL).

In warm weather, Underarmour Heatgear keeps you cool.

Both allow for full range of motion.

Both look (and feel) fuckin' hot! icon_biggrin.gif

I call mine "running pants" because I have an aversion to the idea of wearing "tights".
They are the very same thing though.
They are unbelievably comfortable and do help keep you warm.
After a long run my legs actually feel less fatigued than when I wear running shorts, I'm the most immodest person alive but I feel like I'm showing off when I wear them.
Maybe if I get two more pairs I'll get over it... icon_biggrin.gif

Hmm. I feel the same way about running tights as Samuel L. Jackson feels about pork:

"Sewer rat might taste like pumpkin pie, but I wouldn't know because I wouldn't eat the filthy motherf*cker."

Running tights might be more comfortable than sleeping in on a winter's morning with Brady Quinn, but damned if I'll ever put on a pair.

I've been running for 16 years, and have never really liked wearing tights, but do for the added benefits mentioned above...to stay warm, friction etc. I also know that one of the most unattractive things is when men wear them with nothing underneath or over top of them when they are running. I guess it could all depend on who is wearing them, but this is one of my pet peeves of running...I always wear shorts over top. haha Just my two cents icon_biggrin.gif

tights are different for everyone. I personally dont find them sexy because im a runner and it's a usual uniform for me. for running purposes, it keeps flopping in control. I love them for it. also i feel like it's way easier to run in by themselves rather than having short on top of them. get a feel for them and you'll see the differences.
