Looks like a new Travel sub-forum has been added. So this is the first thread! icon_lol.gif

If you had a $1000 budget for a vacation, where would you go?

Cruises usually offer the best value for your money. Well, that and camping, if you don't mind sand and mud in places you never knew possible :-)

Btw, a travel forum would be great.

I could take a vacation with the $1,000, but I would put it toward my next trip to Alaska. I love Alaska and go whenever I can. Anchorage is the most fun city. Last time I went to the Arctic Circle and Mt. McKinley. The moose there are incredibly large. One of my favorites - I went to Talkeetna (where Northern Exposure was filmed) in November one year, and rented a small log cabin on a lake. I was the only one in the entire place, and practically the only one in the town. Around 11:00pm I bundled up, took a bottle and sat on the hood of the car and watched the Northern Lights. It was one of the most incredible nights I have ever had. Sometimes you think you have seen it all and realize you haven't. It would have been nice to have my arms around someone special that night.

SD is cool. You just gotta know where to go! There is great back roads in the hills that take you to pretty cool places off the tourist track.

I kind of disagree about the coolness. There's Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park....I don't remember much else. Maybe I needed to spend more than a day and a half in the state. And personally, I thought Mt. Rushmore was kind of disappointing. And way smaller than I expected.

South Beach (club Twist) is always hoppin' with hot jocks after 1am, but you just missed Ultra Fest and the Winter Music Conference. I had to work through it, but heard it was fuckin awesome.

I would probably do something within California unless here was a really cheap flight to somewhere interesting/fun. So my choices would be Santa Barbara, San Diego, a day spa, Yosemite, San Francisco, a nice drive up the coast, etc. But I would only do it if I had a friend or bf to go with.

Well, cruising came to mind first but I'd really like to do a road trip and explore more of the US. I think 1000 wcould cover expenses on a weeklong trip to the east coast and back. Best Western isn't toooo bad, right?

Oddly it's never been about Puerto V though. The town has been devastated because we only hear Mexico and assume all of the country has a problem. That's like saying there are gay congressman and there by attaching gay to every congress member.

Be wary of how something is addressed in the media. If it's broad based they probably haven't had time to do proper research or are looking to draw in more eyeballs, ears or clicks.

I'd zip over to Japan for a week, or maybe down to Hong Kong. Or get a ticket to Australia for $950 and try to feed myself for a week on $50 while couchsurfing...

Depends on where you at, Miami has cruises for $29 day for 3 day events. Vegas you can get killer hotel deals on, Lake Tahoe is another. Panning for Gold while camping in CA is fun and cheap, digging for Gem stones at one of the national parks (goggle it) Camping at Yellowstone, I like to do the odd ball and whacky stuff

Ya you can do one of those cheap all inclusive trips for less than that. Keep a couple extra hundred dollars to do some fun stuff when you are down there. Or backpack around your country if you haven't done that (as I haven't and want to) or camping (which is awesome).

Prob. head to NYC (for the 2nd time) then to Boston and check out the gay scene over there for about mayb4 a week or something - I'm in SF so there's prob a lot of cheap flights to the East Coast. icon_cool.gif
