Here is a new video from Kelis..was wondering what you guys thought..she always (for me) put out some crazy videos, songs and ideas..but i get her..I appreciate Gaga for her music (great for the dance floor) but she kinda goes overboard for me and its like it goes over my head..
What do you guys think of her and her music?

another classic video with a haunting feel

I always liked Kelis, but for some reason she does not appeal to the masses. Everyone acts like Lady Gaga is so fresh and new, but Kelis has been very eclectic since she first debuted.

    icon_eek.gificon_exclaim.gif I'm awake now. WTH?
I like Kelis when she goes towards more of creative/artsy role like in the "Acapella" and "Get along with you" video.

This is actually my favorite track of hers. LOVE the Neptunes beat behind it. I've always been a huge fan of hers, and have wondered why she never struck it big. I know she focused on her marriage to Nas (which obviously ended) and having a child, so maybe that took away her time and focus on career. But maybe that's why I like her so much....she has this sort of underground appeal to her. LOVE the Acapella track too.

I don't find her to be exciting or even thrilling. I find her to be an exercise in exploration but ... I don't need to compare her to other performers, necessarily, but I feel like her music is a little too safe. I am saying that she does not push the musical boundaries for me.

that Acapella video is stunning but the song lacks a haunting melody for me.

Wow that song is amazing, almost angelic sounding. I thought she disappeared after milkshake. Beautiful euphoric song I almost criedicon_smile.gif

Wolfrain: The Baby in the end is her son. The whole buzz around the video was the fact that she brought her kid into the video..

Dilibra: Reason why she never made it was because her first cd was more hip hop and R&B..around her time when she came out, it was hard for black artists to come out of stereotype. So when she came out with her second cd, it did so poor that i dont think it was released in the US for long. it was more electro. The 3rd cd did pretty good because she stuck with her R&B/Hip Hop roots (Milkshake, I was Wondering (with Angie Martinez..)
I heard about 3 or 4 tracks from her new cd out this summer (it leaked) and shes returning more to the dance floor sound ..on the lines of Accapella..
I guess she was always ahead of her time in the past so thats why she never got anywhere..
